It was a very good performance by Ribas. Looks like she also got over with the fanz with her marketability and winsome persona in the postfight interview (she seems to have a higher than average dose of 'crazy latina' genes.... which I like)

I like Whitmire too but I was glad to see her get cut down and pwned after going the 'aggro bitch' route at weigh ins a la Ronda.

One thing I noticed on Ribas's instgarm is she has some pretty gnarly scarring on one knee visable in a lot of her pictures, must have had a major op at some Brazilian hacksaw clinic sometime.

Road FC had their female tryouts today during the Central League amateur event.

Picked up two fighters to make their pro debut at a later date.

Two different surgeries. One was an ACL repair (obvious) and the other was most likely a meniscus repair, or, if she did have a hack job, a second hack job to fix the previous surgery or deal with re-injury. She also has at least one scope done on the same knee.

Ouch, that knee sounds like it could be a problem throughout her life, much less her career.

Yep. Most ACL repairs look gnarly, as the cut is right down the center of the knee, and the skin is always being stretched then relaxed, even when immobilized. Hopefully she had good rehab, but that is often hit-or miss, regardless of country of origin. Much of the rehab here for athletes that does not occur in a collegiate or professional sports setting is shit. One of the reasons why I am happy to see the UFC PI.

On further even closer inspection it looks like she's tattoo'd the Word of God underneath all that mess

Shinashi wins her 42nd fight at 42 years of age

Fuck, I missed that fight! I didn't even see the weigh ins. At least they found someone small enough for Satoko; "Madeline" usually comes in under 100 lbs. as well. 42 wins is fucking impressive; how many other active female fighters even have that many fights? And, at 42 and under-sized (usually, 10 pounds lighter than many of her opponents), it's even more impressive. I'll always be a fan of Shinashi.

Jarl

P.S. Found some photos of the weigh-ins...looks like Satoko couldn't keep a straight face with Madeline's antics.

P.P.S. Looks like that weight class is being referred to as "micro weight". I still prefer "shadow weight".

Weigh-in:

Her 'KING Reina stare' at 15:29 and 'comments' are especially meaningful.

@JarlSkuld, I watched the fight live & free from that site. Looks like it's not there now. Hopefully they'll put it up later!

Throwing possibilities out of left field Ketlen Vieira still may be able to stay in some form of
title contention since the main event July 13th in Sacramento features #3 Aspen Ladd vs #4
Germaine de Randame while July 20th in San Antonio #10 Irene Aldana faces #5 Raquel
Pennington and what these fights have to do with Ketlen Vieira is the winners could be a
relevant opponent do to top 5 or top 10 rankings and those are the type of wins that score
title shots.

@Purple Storm,

Thanks! I really enjoyed watching that. Madeline is kind of growing on me; I liked her "Please don't rip my arm off" face when she was looking at Satoko. And, it's nice to see Satoko lighten up a bit; I can remember when she got bent - and wasn't down for any clowning - when she was forced to fight a TV "talent". And Shinashi is looking tip-top at 42 and post-kid! Very impressive!

Wow, this Madeline person seems to pack an awful lot of crazy into a very small package.

Might want to give this an edit. I feel like you're asking what Ketlen can do to stay relevant while those other fights happen? I'd say she needs to fight either Yana or Macy.

While Pena and Nicco are not currently ranked the winner will also be jumped into the mix as well.

If Amanda Ribas can stay out of trouble with USADA & stay healthy she could be a
contender in 12-18 months since she does have reliable teammates & coaches at
American Top Team that can get her pointed the right way.
That was a nice win but Whitmire is bottom of the barrel ufc SW, Ribas herself was smashed by Polyana Viana (0-2ufc sw) she's not going to be even top 15 in 18 months.
