Official Women's Division Discussion #26

So I just saw the UFC rankings got updated trues day. Must have been sometimes in the evening, because they hadn’t changed when I checked.

KGB Lee moves from #10 to #7, with a win over the #11 ranked fighter  I never knew wins over lower ranked opponents could be so valuable. Must be the extra points from being blonde.

Felice Herrig moved up one spot, over Alexa Grasso. Can’t imagine why that changed at all, unless it’s due to whatever weird formula they use when tallying up all the panel members’ scores.

Zhang has begun her “move up the ranks the closer the fight gets.” Moves to #5, Gadelha falls to #6.

I'm trying to figure out how #10 beating #11 warrants being moved up in the rankings when it should
have been no gain based on the ranking of the losing fighter.

I'm not sure if anyone has been paying attention but Felice Herrig is on the recovering from surgery
list do to ACL surgery about 14 days ago and she probably will be out till spring next year.

Welcome to UFC rankings, which I'm pretty sure works the same way as their matchmaking - draw numbers out of a hat.
Calderwood is somehow at #6 without a single win over any ranked fighters.

Oh, almost forgot bantamweight. Holy and Vieira each move up one, to #1 and #2 respectively, while GDR falls from #1 to #3.

McMann moves up one spot to #10 after withdrawing from her fight Nicco, pushing Aldana down to #11.

In other words, the fuckery took over the rankings this week.
those journalists that vote on the rankings are so recency biased, and seems to be very affected by whichever fighter is being pushed and marketed at the moment. they must be doing it from the top of their heads, judging by all the random movements. i'd by surprised if they have a specific system

I would be interested in seeing the raw data, myself.

The old UFC website had it where you can see exactly who each journalist picked. I am not sure if it is still possible with the new website redesign.

Hmm, ok. I am going to look around later.

Glad you're enjoying it. This site deserves the credit https://grabakahitman.wordpress.com. Watched the Tokyo fight - Satoko Shinashi vs. Madoka Ishibashi. Total domination. Won't spoil it, here's the link: YouTube

50:30 Tina Machado vs Maria Ribeiro.

This fight could have been stopped anywhere from the second round on. A terrible beating.

I like Aspen Ladd.
What has she done for anyone to not like her? All she does is fight and hike with her family and dogs. The only bad thing is she had a period of missing weight.

No idea. Seems pretty cool. Well, other than the crazy-ex thing she does during ground and pound. I am waiting to hear "You never called when you were late!!!" "You left your underwear all over the floor!!!" "Put the seat down, god dammit!!!!!!!!" As she is bashing some poor woman's head in.

Damn, missed the ladies. Will watch later.

If Amanda Ribas can stay out of trouble with USADA & stay healthy she could be a
contender in 12-18 months since she does have reliable teammates & coaches at
American Top Team that can get her pointed the right way.

I don't care what happens on the rest of the card Ribas deserves a $50k bonus just for having sat out close to two years for a positive test which USADA now say was most likely the result of a contaminated supplement.
