Official Women's Division Discussion #25

Am I the only one noticing that PFL and Combate also seem to have uniforms? How come there are not nearly the amount of backlash as with he UFC. This is a serious question. If there is something I am missing please drop some knowledge on me.
I recall when PFL press released their uniform policy months ago before their regular season started they showed that the fighters would be allowed two sponsors in dedicated spots on the outfits. I watched every PFL card this season and I can't recall seeing one sponsor on there though except maybe I think some of the Russians had their gym name on there. Maybe there were some there that I just didn't notice or maybe these guys had a hard time getting sponsors, at least ones that PFL or NBC approved.

Obviously, Nunes should be in the GOAT discussion. I didn't mention her in my previous post because she is still creating her legacy. She is going to make a great case for being called the GOAT if she knocks out Cyborg.

We can dream. I bet Cyborg wears her down, though.

Changing subjects, anyone heard from any other potential candidates that could be at PFL's 155 tournament?
I posted this a few pages ago but it may have been overshadow by the Cyborg discussion.

There's also Sarah Petterson and Bobbi Jo Dalziel out there, but i think that's it. Am i forgetting someone?

I am really hoping King Reina considers doing it. think it would be perfect for her

think Nunes needs to avenge that loss to Cat. If she beats Cyborg all bets are off.

Just taIked to Shannon about the December card among other things. will have an article posted tomorrow but a few things I didn't put in it that will clear up some things....

The reason Kaufman doesn't have a match is because they simply don't have an opponent qualified to face her yet. Most of the talent at 135 is still developing and Shannon doesn't want to feed her someone who isn't ready.

Invicta boxing is still a go but got put on the side due to the push to get the MMA cards set for the next few months. she has a model in place, and will not be doing mixed boxing/kickboxing cards.

She expects t have more cards next year (by the sounds of it monthly).

There is a lot of build going into the next few cards in terms of video features. Ashley Cummins, Danielle Taylor and Monserrat Ruiz pieces are currently being shot by Cynthia Vance, while a Mizuki piece is set to be shot in the coming week.

The Erin Blanchfield piece is already out

Shannon must be reading these forums because she is solving a lot of issues I had with Invicta. She already started announcing cards early. She is going to be doing monthly events and she is no longer feeding Kaufman 135ers who are clearly not ready for that level of fighter yet. If you are reading this Shannon amazing job!

I don't know about Combate, but in PFL they can have 2 sponsors, better than zero..

Invicta needs more bantamweights. Two prospects who've been killing it in the European scene are Morgane Ribout (4-0, French, 30 years old) and Lucrezia Ria (7-2, Italian, 26 years old). Would be happy to see them getting a chance.

From post Soviet regions - Zaira Dyshekova, Liana Jojua are must have

Super cool the things you & others have mentioned are being improved. Monthly events would rock. Agree Shannon does an amazing job. And the emphasis is always on the fighters, not on herself. From her leadership & throughout the entire organization it's a class act. Especially love that Invicta shows respect for each individual & for the excitement of mma. I watch all their events on fight pass. We're living in the best time ever for viewing these events. Here's to hoping it continues getting even better.

I'm always blown away by how much people here know about the worldwide scene. Thanks for your contributions.

Well, to be fair, these girls have solid wins in their resumes.
Jojua beat Mokhnatkin's wife - the couple were pretty much stars of FNG.
Dyshekova beat Kunitskaya before she joined Invicta, and hasn't lost a fight since

Tapology, YouTube, Google translate .... never been easier to keep track. I'd love to see Dyshekova get a chance on the international scene, still only 22, a Circassian ....Sherdog lists her as 5'5" which is clearly wrong, tapology has 5'11" . Here's the Kunitskaya fight.

Dyshekova signed with FNG

Thinking long-term, it's for the best to have Invicta/UFC NOT signing these Eastern European prospects. With so many of them being talented and clearly investing time in MMA, their regional scene soon enough will be a hotbed of talent when it comes to WMMA, so UFC should give it time and let the scene develop itself in a way that if you take one or two, won't hurt too much and new ones will keep their scene going.

Dyshekova is probably around 5'8" or 5'9", definitely not 5'11" either. She grow up since the Kunitskaya fight, but she wasn't much taller there, just barely.

FNG now has:
  • Zamzagul Fayzallanova (6-1)
  • Liana Jojua (7-2)
  • Marina Mokhnatkina (4-1)
  • Zaira Dyshekova (5-2)
  • Aygul Khabirova (5-1)
  • Julia Borisova (5-4)
  • Lilya Shakirova (5-1)
  • Mariya Agapova (6-0)
  • Liliya Kazak (7-5-2)

What was going on when the referee put his hand on Dyshekova's head at 3:30?
