Official Women's Division Discussion #25

I figured the fight would have spent more time in kickboxing/boxing range.

I expected the fight to be over shortly after it hit the ground since Lina's ground game is questionable, but other that it wasn't too surprising. If you've watched Lina's MT career, she's pretty weak out in the open and generally wins her fights in the clinch, her standup out at range isn't any better than the WMMA average. She has decent kicks when she actually uses them, but she doesn't have the setups for them or the timing & balance to keep them from getting caught.

As for Yana, good smart fight from her, but she's got a long way to go before she can beat the top 5 in her division. And given that she's at Jackson-Wink which is dogshit for teaching fundamental skills...yeah...

I think Herrig should take it unless she fights stupid, which does happen at times.
Haven't seen enough of Ladd and Evinger's fights to make a call, I just flipped a coin and came up with Ladd.

Yeah, but the same happens with Waterson. I just never pick Evinger because I cannot stand her. So she will probably win just to piss me off.

Aspen Ladd - killing Cyborg's opponents faster than Cyborg.

First and only time I pick her she loses. Back on my shit list.

Jesus, Herrig going full retard in this fight.

Not the fight I wanted out of either of them. Michelle by being more active on the ground in rd 3, but only one judge scored it properly, anyway. 30-27? 30-26? WTF were they watching?

Khabib (can’t stand either of them) better forget about “punishing” (smothering and not doing shit against) McG, or else he’s getting robbed.

I picked Ladd to beat Evinger, but I didn't expect a finish by MAULING in the first round. I'd like to see Evinger whine her way out of this one. That just made my day.

I fell asleep can anyone give a short summary of how the WMMA fights went? I am very happy Aspen won! Did she look much improved or did Tonya just look rusty due to the injury and long layoff?

Read my predictions. :) Yes Aspen looked much improved. Showed her killer instinct too. Time & injuries are catching up with Tonya big time. Herrig looked one-dimensional. Michelle showed better footwork, superior athleticism and far more varied skills. Yana looked more confident, more relaxed. Kept range with jab & teep kicks then smothering against the cage where she used her superior strength to her advantage. Her game plan was excellent and perfectly executed.

Yana moved to Vegas.
