Official Women's Division Discussion #25

Team Lobo's Paulina Vargaz got dropped in the 1st round shot for a takedown and proceeded to dominate the rest of the fight until the 2nd rd when she won by a tko she moves up to 3-0

So get this...

Sheena Brandenburg and Jackie Vandenburgh were supposed to fight for "Diamond Fights" and had their hands wrapped and ready to go. Then the Delaware commission let them know the whole card is off because the promoter bailed. They got commission checks but not sure if they will be able to be cashed.

See every comment I have ever made about fight promoters.

They could give fuckers who steal senior citizens wheel chairs to sell for scrap metal lessons in how to be assholes.

Blockbuster wmma card will be followed by a fight no one's gonna watch. Some loudmouth lout vs. a guy who wrestles bears.

Main Card
Women's Strawweight Michelle Waterson vs. Felice Herrig
Props to Herrig for calling the lout's fanboys a cult. And to KH for backing up JJ turning down the inane short notice offer to JJ. Going with 'more skills in the toolbox'. Waterson.
Preliminary Card (Fox Sports 1)
Women's Bantamweight Aspen Ladd vs. Tonya Evinger
Deviant captured by predator. Ladd.
Early Preliminary Card (UFC Fight Pass)

Women's Bantamweight Lina Länsberg vs. Yana Kunitskaya
Lansberg's tough. She comes at you. But Yana survived Cyborg. Even jokes about it. Yana.

Both survived Cyborg. Going with Lansberg, Waterson (if she has a decent plan), and Ladd. I confess I always pick against Evinger because I dislike her.

I could see Lansberg just mushing Kunitskaya into the fence, Ladd win by continuing to be a tireless arm punching maniac, and Herrig just being too slow to deal with Waterson. My tapology picks are Kunitskaya, Evinger, and Herrig.

Excellent - I have Kunitskaya, Evinger, and Herrig winning ?1?

:D

I could make a decent case for any of your picks. Really Ladd is wishful thinking on my part, nothing more. I fully expect Evinger to win. Waterson could easily brain fart and throw everything away. Not sure if Lina can deal with Kunitskaya's grappling. If so, she wins on the feet. Or she should. But if Kunitskaya puts Lina on her back, Lina will probably lose.

For you kickboxing fans, Stamp Fairtex vs Kai Ting Chuan was a total shit show. They should have just made it a MT bout, because that's how it was treated. Multiple throws by Syamp, way too many strikes in the clinch, and no penalties whatsoever.

As much as the UFC gives us to complain about, ONE Championship is the worst.

Stamp did the correct thing in a kickboxing rules bout. Cheat like a mofo, and see if the ref does anything. ONE is probably happy to have a champ that didn't lose to the Japanese aces (KANA/MIO). Feel bad for Kai Ting though, she got f'd by that ref.

Question: Do you know which rule set ONE FC was using for that particular fight?

ONE FC has 2 different rule sets that they use for their kickboxing fights; the K-1/international rules plus their own hybrid rules which allows for some clinch work and MT techniques including throws.

I haven't seen the fight yet, but if it was under hybrid rules then everything you've mentioned would be legal.

First I’m hearing this. They certainly didn’t mention it during the broadcast.

Edit to add: they don’t have the rules for the super series listed on their website, either.

I was under the impression that the fight was k-1 style rules. Ref warned Stamp early for throws, and then just gave up with the warnings as the fight went on.

I'm going Lansberg, Ladd, Herrig ........ place your bets accordingly.

Kunitskaya, Herrig, Evinger. Not too sure about any of those picks, though. Matchmaker did a good job with these.

Thanks. I've gotta look up Lansberg - Cyborg. Yana - Lansberg starts soon, should be a good one. Getting excited for all the fights this eve. Enjoy!

Lina needed a stint in invicta before going to the ufc.

Well, they needed "competition" for Cyborg.

Just got in, just started watching and missed all but the last 10 seconds of the fight. Stats make it obvious.
