FCF 56 takes place this weekend in Shawnee, Oklahoma. It's currently an all female card headlined by a Flyweight title fight between Jessica Middleton (4-4) and Calie Cutler (6-5). In addition to that, Brenda Gonzales (8-4) and Tamikka Brents (2-3) are fighting for the Bantamweight title. I wasn't aware Brents could make Bantamweight. Rounding out the pro fights are Erica Torres (2-5) vs Katie Teehee (0-0) and Kaytlin Neal (1-3) vs. Candice Maricle (1-2).

Also this weekend at Art of War CF 8 is an amateur Strawweight title fight between Kristi Garr (3-0) and Criszaida Adame (4-0). Both are top prospects in their respective regions. Garr is originally from Pennsylvania but has lived in Michigan for many years. She is an elite wrestler who is a main training partner of Alesha Zappitella and Amanda Cooper at Scorpion Fighting System. Alesha and Kristi head up their women's wrestling program. This will be her first time fighting at home. Adame trains out of Martinez BJJ in Philadelphia. Both are undefeated and look like they could make some noise when they go pro.

On this note I just updated my results/upcoming fight page. The FCF card will be streaming on Fite.tv.

Also this weekend Cheyanne Vlismas will face Diana Felipe in South Africa for EFC and will stream on their website Saturday morning.

Delaware will have a female bout this weekend, and is one of the harder states for there to hold events. If this does happen we may see the first year all 50 states has held female MMA bouts.

Can anyone tell me why Pereira was cut, can't say I watched her fights except against Letourneau?

So she went the distance with Suarez and came in as a late replacement to lose her last fight, still she was 2-2. Was it her height, the blue lipstick?

She was not cut she was just not resigned after her contract ended. We don't know why she was not resigned. The UFC sometimes don't resign fighters who want to fight out their contract and try to see if another organization gives them a better deal. For example the UFC gives them an offer and the fighter declines and say they will fight out contract. So when they fight out contract and no other promotion offers a better deal the UFC then declines to sign the fighter. This exact situation happened to that Steve guy from Scotland(I forgot his full name). It's the UFC saying you can fight out your contract but we might not be offering you a new one if you do.

That is about as... overly nice... as you can put it. More like "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU TRY OUT FREE AGENCY INSTEAD OF RESIGNING WITH US UNDER OUR TERMS WHEN WE TELL YOU TO RESIGN!!!!" + a bunch of "goof"s and a bunch of "fuck"s and <31>

Making an example of those they can afford to lose, to keep more "valuable" fighters vary about scouting the free agent waters. Of course that does not stop those who actually get genuinely good offers, the Rorys, Mooses and such of the world...
 
Now that I am in a ranty mood... IF Eubanks manages to cock up her cut again, the 125 TUF will go into the historybooks as the grandest clusterfuck of all times. First Eubanks misses weight for the championship fight at the finale, then Nicco fucks up properlike and has to be stripped, now the idiots book Eubanks into a championship fight AGAIN for no fucking reason whatsoever.

At the very end of the day, the only positives might end up being a) Roxy fighting for an UFC belt b) Roxy winning in a proper UFC fight c) generally Roxy, oh and Gillian Robertson of course. :)

Thanks, how do you tell if someone has been cut against not having the contract renewed btw? In a press release, on the UFC website?

That's good and sensible (and a better choice to begin with, if they just have to book the 125 championship for this particular card), and while that would save the card - it does not really have an effect on the status of (potentially) 2/3 of TUF26 participants fucking up their respective title fight(s)... that's for the history books, boys and girls.

Anyway, Sarj might just as well make the weight, just ranting out of frustration and bafflement from this fight getting booked in the first place and scrapping Val vs. JJ for it.

Felipe withdrew from the bout and has now been replaced with Karolina Wojcik.

Well the UFC does not really comment on that themselves but word usually gets out in the media. Especially if the fighters go on Ariels show since he has a hard on for money talk. If you want a way to have a good idea about it without them specifically saying it you can also look at their number of fights in the UFC. Standard contract legnth is 4 fights.

For contracts to be different in length its usually a fighter who is deep into their UFC career, a big star or a case where the UFC was in a bidding war for the fighter with other promotions. Fighters who are on their 1st or 2nd contract in the UFC are almost always on 4 fight contracts. For example, Sarah Kaufman fought out her contract and was later not re-signed. If you check her record she has 4 fights in the UFC.

I don't know but 2 fight losing streak and not an exciting or even particularly interesting fighter in any dimension. I guess her fight with Moyle wasn't a bad showing but the UFC probably feel they have a lot of other fodder to pick up and play around with at 115 so why bother with her.

That or it is the blue lipstick...

I would argue the rightful title challenger who has shown they can make weight is a decent enough reason in a new division

Outside of the divison being new, I would have to disagree here (hence my rant above). We are now past the TUF show stage, so Eubanks' claim to a titleshot has ended because there is now a real divison, and being 50/50 on making weight does not yet really count as showing you can make weight.

YMMV and whatnot.

Yeah, but the division being new means a lot of the rankings arent very settled, so even being a tv show-based title contender is more relevant a claim than most can make, and since she missed she's now 1/1 on showing that she can make it

Are we really going to quote each other ad infinitum, just to post that we disagree with on these two points on a very fundamental level? :D
 
Women's flyweight in the UFC has gotten absurd to the point where I'd rather laugh in an existential comedic way than argue vehemently for one fighter over another. There are legitimate arguments & counterarguments for any title fight.

The UFC has tried dragging people in to fight Shevchenko without allowing them the proper time to heal their injuries, prepare on a full camp, get their weight on point a few times in a row or even have had a fight in that division. The ultimate stupidity was scheduling a fight most all wanted to see, against JJ, and then cancelling it.

The UFC has the most bargaining power. Fans line up against any fighter who isn't doing what it says that particular month or week or day. So and so doesn't have enough instagram followers, another can't make weight, another doesn't 'deserve' it. In its current incarnation the UFC is doing the corporate cluster fuck of hurry up and wait. Oh no! We must reschedule! That's why I'm generally like yeah go ahead. Schedule a damn fight. Stick to it. Let's see what happens. Keep things moving along. But stop fucking over fighters like JJ or Shev who are clearly professional and time tested.
 
If Shevchenko wins it'll probably be a boring 5 round display of play-it-safe points striking anyway.

Why not book Shevchenko vs Anjela Pink instead? That fight would bring action with a capital A (that's 'Action', in case you wondered) and a guaranteed highlight reel finish whoever the winner turned out to be.
People like action and they like highlight reel finishes even more. IMO my idea is perfect, don't know why the UFC didn't think of it.
