Official Women's Division Discussion #25

Hyo-Kyung Song vs. Mariya Suzuki @ Angels Fighting 6, goes down Monday night.

Who is the better striker of the Shevchenko sisters?

They are different. I don't think either one is better than the other, rather, their skills are matched towards their physical attributes. They both use many of the same techniques but not always in the same way, and with a different emphasis. Antonina is taller with more reach and she favours long range strikes, she uses more front kicks & straight punches than her sister to keep her opponents stuck on the outside where she can safely pick them apart. Valentina is stockier but faster, her style is built towards countering opponents as they step in or closing the range quickly to either clinch or get back out fast. They both do some things better than the other; Antonina has a better straight left whereas Valentina has the better right hook. Both of them are in the very top level, no question.

What's with all these kids, is the thread turning into a creche?

Anyway Montana Stewart's daughter Zaylyn is clearly the future goat

Can just barely see it from this angle, but Song's corner immediately threw in the towel after the first elbow against the fence. Hopefully Suzuki can get some time in before some Japanese promotion throws her in against a wrestler/judoka.

Watching the Sanda World Championship finals from Russia (pretty much to see who WLF/Kunlun will be picking up for mma/kickboxing), and some of the fighters on the Chinese women's team are incredible.

The two best female Chinese kickboxers so far (E Meidie/Gong Yan Li), and also the two best mma fighters (Yan Xiaonan/Weili Zhang) came directly in from Sanda.

60kg (132lbs) gold medalist YingYing Cai flawless victory'd her way through the bracket with a wrestling style.

48kg (105lbs) gold medalist Shimeng Dai looks like she could compete & succeed under kickboxing or mma rules right now.

Neat fight at 56kg (123lbs) between Chinese fighter Huimin Lin & Swedish mma/muay thai fighter Elin Oberg.

Oberg trains at the Pancrase Sweden gym with Karl Albrektsson/Oliver Enkamp/Gabriella Ringblom.

Few notes from the MMA Hour.

Cat Zingano wants a fight asap. Is looking to return before June.

Tecia and Rocky set a wedding date Sept. 15

Herica just gave birth to a baby boy over the weekend, so he dodged a bullet lol.

I think Valentina is a bit more versatile overall, hence why I'd pick her if I had to.

Antonina throws a hook kick I love watching though.
Who do you guys think Yana Kuni should fight next?
I really hope the UFC signs some new Bantamweights.. if they do not, Lina Lansberg is a good option.

Thanks for the update since I don't watch that show. Cat said the same thing after the Ronda fight and did not fight for another year or two. Hopefully she follows through with it this time and the UFC gives her a tuneup fight or two.

Sunday at SFL Kiran Singh got herself DQed. Maiara Alves makes it to the finals

According to Lucie Pudilova's Instagram page she has
signed a new deal with UFC but did not disclose the
number of fights.

Sweet! I mean if anything she's one to watch. Honestly should be 3-0 in the UFC right now but her last two performances have been pretty good. Hope she continues to improve, always like watching prospects like Pudilova and Ladd grow as time passes by.
