Not sure if it was posted but Sabina Mazo will now face Shannon Sinn at LFA for the vacant 125 title on April 20th.

My records research did not fail me. Had a feeling Ducote was a bit overrated due to her Bellator win-loss ratio. Once you look at the records of the opponents she beat it started to become clear she had no good wins. I am interested to see what they do with Williams next. The only people left for their champ to fight is Valerie Letourneau and Williams.

Juliana Velasquez could be next if she wins her fight at Bellator 197, she would be 7-0 MMA and 2-0 in Bellator

They brought in a bunch of fighters last year, but so far have only given them 1 fight a piece. Hopefully they can figure out the next contender by the time Illiminator fights Letourneau.

Yeah, that stood out the most to me was how much bigger Williams looked. Considering she was giving up a lot of reach, she didn't look bad on the feet. If she was able to do more of what she did in the 3rd with the takedown, she would have won.

Williams continues to look really composed, even her post-fight interviews are chill.

Has Dern improved on her striking & wrestling? Does Yoder have anything for her?

Can Yana avoid the KO or make a respectable showing vs. Cyborg?

OK, did a quick re-watch of Ducote/Williams with a more analytical eye to be able to see what Kristina needs to improve on to rise above being a prospect and to become elite and how her opponents might game plan against her. I like Kristina Williams striking but she seems very flat footed and kick heavy to me. She ends almost every series of attacks with a head kick. The 1st wrestler she comes across will have many opportunities to take her down. Her flat footed striking style will mean she might not be fast enough on her feet to react to well timed double leg/single leg shots. The good thing is she is very tall and long for the division. This will help her keep distance.

She needs more head movement but that can be said about a majority of WMMA fighters. She does not seem to throw many empty kicks but she will almost instinctively counter an empty kick from her opponent with one of her own. Her grappling is probably not good with how easily Ducote got to full mount at the end of the fight.

I remember a few of us doing some scouting on areas of improvement after Derns last fight. Hopefully she improved on her wrestling/head movement/cage cutting and overall striking for this fight. Now that she is in the UFC its is only a matter of time until she gets matched up with a striker with good takedown defense. Right now I think Angela Hill would be a nightmare matchup for Dern. Sorry if this was a long post but I really enjoy scouting prospects.

I must say I am rooting for Yoder aginst Dern. I like her style - her grappling is very active (see the Kish fight for example), and while Dern is on another level in the ground (though I was there to see her lose against my countrywoman) she is also quite dismal on the feet. So yeah, interesting fight and hoping for Yoder to upset. And as @SeverianB posted in the heavies... Yoder's hawter.

Not likely going to stay up for the sacrifice of Yana for the JBG. If she dies, she dies. If she somehow manages to pull an armbar from her arse or something, I'll bjbenn_nodding.gif.

Nothing to say about Cat vs. Vieira, except that I hope it's a fun bout. If Vieira wins, she has quite a collection of Not-Quite-Top-3 scalps on her belt, and Cat winning would likewise be a nice rebound (hope she stays active if she wins).

Her opponent isn’t bad, Juarez is probably top 25 in the division imo.

I know if Mackenzie Dern would work with a nutritionist she
could make 115 lbs easy but seeing how she walks around
at a very heavy 143 lbs she already kills herself just to make
the non title weight of 116 lbs.

Really? I thought Lipski won... then again Juarez taking Lipski to a decision is a win in itself.

I was more impressed with Owczarz choking out Raszewska. Pretty much everyone thought Raszewska had it in the bag given how long Owczarz had been out but she proved everyone wrong and got the first round submission. Very impressive performance from her. I hope they both fight under the KSW banner again. It'll be nice to see them produce more homegrown talent, maybe bring back Katarzyna Lubonska and Kamila Porczyk (even though I hate her).

ETA: Okay I see why there can be a legitimate argument on Juarez winning. I might have drank too much coke while watching the fight. Will have to watch again to see if my opinion changes.
