Official Women's Division Discussion #25

It amazes me that DEEP feels no shame putting on what are on paper such huge mismatches. Then again, Kim might be able to use her height and reach to outstrike Nakai and keep her on the outside.

When I see stuff like this I just remember it is Japan.

Michelle Waterson confirmed she has an opponent on a livestream yesterday. Grasso, Moroz or Casey seem most likely.

On the same livesteam, her friend Lais Deleon (defending against some trollish comments) revealed Michelle was really sick for her fight against Torres. Michelle looked a little annoyed that was revealed, (Waterson hates making excuses, we didn't find out she almost died before the Tiburcio fight until 2 years later) and mumbled something about "putting in too much training to back out but she learned from it". She had never gassed in a fight before and was out of it in the second round. Mystery solved.

Mizuki posted on her Facebook Page that soon we will know who's her next opponent!!
I wonder who should be..
Maybe Kinberly Novaes or Pearl Gonzalez...

Grasso would be a good fight - though if Randa wins her fight against Lima I would have preferred Waterson-Randa to be made instead

The fight I'm most looking forward to this weekend:

As Justine Kish is on my fighter roster for @TCE 's Sherdog UFC Real Time Game, I'll be rooting for Kish to win it. War Justine !!! (I think Kish will perform much better at 125 lbs than she has at 115 lbs)

Interesting (and possibly controversial) article about Invicta FC's title situation over on mma-today.com

Time is Right for Shannon Knapp to Do Away with Invicta FC Titles

I would tend to agree with it.

I think Invicta would be better turning to a tournament format. They could have knockout stages throughout the year, then big end of year tournament match.

8 fighters in each division

so 4 quarter finals per division - 20 fights - thats 2 full cards..

2 semi finals per divison - 10 fights - thats another full card

then final card of the year, 5 tournament finals

that fills up 4 cards a year, gives some sort of a structure, a yearly champion, and when as is likely the yearly champions go to the ufc they just hold another tournament

I completely disagree with the premise of the article. While not a huge fan of titles, they give the ladies a short-term goal to strive for, a bit of prestige, and for some they will never come close to UFC gold so it is a decent accomplishment for those who are not top-tier fighters.

The problem with not having titles and going with a tournament is three fold. One, a lot of the gals Shannon signs are inexperienced and need fights to gain it. Matchmaking would be difficult. Two, you lose a lot of your marketing if you don't have champions. Three, if someone loses in the tournament, doesn't really mean they aren't good. See Mallory Martin.

I finally got tis video made and put up. My best work by far, both on the mic and with the diting, which I'm finally starting to figure out.

Also, I have about 4 new videos up in the last 24 hours, please check them out.

On January 27th at UFC on FOX 27, the promotion will welcome yet another entrant into the flyweight division, as blue chip prospect and exceptional athletic talent Justine Kish steps back into the Octagon. Coming off her first defeat, Kish has been out of action for the better part of the year and hopes to restart her career in the newly minted 125-pound weight class. Today we are going to look at the good, bad, and ugly of Kish’s game, and how that will benefit or limit her in this division.
