Official Women's Division Discussion #25

Thanks. I'm always interested in the unified rankings. Fascinating how quickly things will change as soon as a few scheduled fighters throw down.

For banter, I have some questions for everybody. Long live the banter.

Regarding featherweight. Is Cat Zingano moving up for good to fight Megan Anderson? Or is it more of a one fight thing. Same for Amanda Nunes moving up to fight Chris Cyborg. Wonder if it's more like Joanna moving up to fight Val. Sort of like let's do it and then later discuss how it may shake out.

Yeah flyweight rankings are odd. Things should settle down once some of them have fought one another. Or not lol. Of the current listings a few have already moved down to lower division. Of that list I'd rank Carmouche, Chookagian & Agnieszka higher. Not yet overly impressed with the levels of competition outside the UFC. Hoping it keeps improving. A possible exception is Lipski as she has looked so strong in most every fight. I hope they don't rush her with beastly matchups just yet though. Let her grow & mature as a fighter & person.

On straweight. Not sure how long Rose will be out. Seems like it's getting near a time where she commits to a fight soon. Andrade - Suarez could be a good one for an interim belt.

What does everyone think of the atomweight rankings? I'm not familiar enough with all their fights to comment. Want to watch more good ones though as I enjoy atomweight. Keep letting us know when & where we can watch them.

Anyone know of Julianna Pena's plans for a return? I'm looking forward to it. There's a lot of opportunities for her. Marion Renau could be a good match for her return. If that's doable. Hoping she comes back strong and perhaps a bit less corny with the bragging.

Also hoping Nicco will keep fighting. Especially that TUF didn't just indefinitely mess her up with injuries. Or that her head wasn't so spun out with all that past nonsense that her heart's no longer in it. She's too good & fun to watch. I want to see her continue if at all possible.

Kind of under the radar: look forward to GDR's return. Yet another fighter who pissed me off for while. Then when things settled down I'm like oh hell yeah I'd love to see her fight again.

I can get mad at some fighters for a while if they piss me off sometimes. But it never lasts too long. Then I respect them again as fighters. When they're gone for a while I anticipate their return!

I've no problem with Andrade v Suarez as long as it's for the interim belt. Don't like the idea of Rose sitting on the sidelines while the contenders eliminate each other in three rounders. If they followed the Nicco playbook the UFC would be pressuring Rose to sign a bout agreement around about now and getting ready to strip her in the New Year.

One lesson for folks like Nicco and GDR is don't sit at home and fume, get out there, give interviews and put your side of the story.

I'm not saying anything about the forthcoming fights, learnt my lesson with Lipski - btw she's way overrated in those rankings imo. I do wonder what happens to 135 if Nunes wins though. Which title does she give up, given that Dana probably doesn't allow two belt champs?

Everyone is going to complain about flyweight regardless. In a year it should sort itself out, so I see no reason to bitch about the rankings. In the meantime, there are quite a few good fights to make.

My thoughts exactly. Just keep fighting. More more more!

Her freaking out about not getting a title shot then missing weight bothers me.

The fact that the UFC thought it was smart to pick someone who has a history of missing weight to fight for a title that was held up for so long bothers me. It shows a clear lack of common sense. Eubanks should be forced to move up.

Sometimes, the comedy writes itself.
Hopefully Roxy can submit her and pull off a win, just to make it even more delicious.

Oo, Ham/Park :)

Go Roxy! :D

Also, I am thinking of putting "Where's Rin?" as my sig, so I don't have to post it every now and then :(

Sounds like she's not been able to train full time yet. She developed lupus.

Elaborate plot by UFC flyweights to duck her.

I could be wrong but with Sijara Eubanks missing weight the fight
that will now be the #1 contender fight is Chookigan vs Eye at UFC
231 in Toronto since both should have no problem making 126 lbs
or less.

Just saw the weigh in results and wanted to drop in to formally retract and apologize for any support I gave to the idea of Sarge deserving a titleshot

Fyi the Ham vs. Park fight will be on the first RoadFC card on DAZN.

If they inked a deal with DEEP/DEEP-Jewels I am all in.

In case yu missed it the Hilarie Rose vs. Jenny Serio fight is off CES 53 tonight. Serio pulled out due to injury.
