Official Women's Division Discussion #25

Sooo, fight day tomorrow! Who y'all got? I don't wanna see neither Mazany or Curran lose but at the same time I really wanna see what Wu and Yan are about and how they do on their debuts so I'm going with the newcomers on this one but won't mind if Danger or Curran win! I really wish Zhang was fighting on this card, hopefully they sign her soon.
I think Yan beats Curran by TKO and Mazany beats Wu by DEC, not impressed with Wu competition that far, i'll go with Gina.

29 isn't old though, it isn't like signing JAG at 33 or Honchak (most likely) at 38 where you'd expect a decline soon. She's right in her prime; same age as Nunes and Shev.
Personally speaking, if Neidzwiedz wins, I would sign both. If Maia beats Agnieska, I would let Agnieska take one two more fights in Invicta and just sign Maia.

This. If Kuma lose, no need to rush her in UFC, just bring her whenever she gets that belt after Maia leaves.

Bonus:
Little Kuma

Kailin Currans fights are usually fun to watch and I been a fan of hers and the other Hawaiians for years but man she needs to be cut. She is obviously not UFC level talent right now. I understand Dana is friends with her parents but he is not doing her any favors sending her out there to get beat up every few months. Just give her a job behind the scenes or something. Fighters usually have something that they excel at but in her case she does not. Once I seen she was getting tooled in the standup I knew she would lose. She is not a good grappler and has terrible takedowns. That mixed with terrible fight IQ is just a recipe for disaster.

She should just go to Invicta, she usually is very exciting to watch

Agree. All the poor kid is doing is taking a beating.

I feel for Kailin. She loves fighting and shes always in fun fights. They really can't give her another fight though. Shame, she seems cool.

JJ Aldrich's got a fight with Danielle Taylor at FN124

I really don't get that match up, Taylor just defeated Penne and was dominant, that's her biggest win, why fight Aldrich now? She has less than 10 fights, should be against someone better ranked.

I would never associate dominant with Taylor. She does everything possible to avoid a fight and likes to poke people in the eye a lot. I don't mind fighters using movement but there has to be a point where that movement leads to offense. All she does is circle away from her opponent the whole fight. She wins by missing more shots than her opponent so the judges award her the win for 'being more busy'. Every fighter who employs her fighting style will find it hard to have people sign up to fight her and will take the long route up the rankings if they are winning.

I get what you re saying about her style, i really do, but it wasn't even close imo, Taylor clearly won 2-1 to me, Penne was totally outclassed and looked like shit in that one. Taylor looked sharp, she is one of the most methodic fighters and i don't think there's anything wrong with that, i mean, we have a WW champion like that. But yeah i think you're right about her route, she's probably going to struggle climbing that rankings.

Good calls.

Enjoyed the Curran - Yan fight. Curren's always exciting & Yan can have a future on a bigger stage.

Gina came out hard charging & stuck to her 'beat her to the punch' game plan.

Great crowd in China. Some of their fighters held their own. It may spark more training. There's room for growth in mma for that market & talent pool.

To me UFC was the real winner of that night, Shanghai was a complete sucess, 5 hometown guys won and almost every fight delivered. The only 3 that lose, were supposed to, they all were huge underdogs.

Curran chin is ridiculous, idk how that girl can take that many punches and keep walking forward. I hope she realizes that isn't a good idea tho.

Aldrich probably beats Taylor, though.

Unless she shenanigans once again, like digging Ham's eyes completely out of their sockets, or something like that.

i think you will be surprised, i don't see Aldrich winning that one

Well, I just think Aldrich has better skills in the sport of MMA. And Taylor is not one of them who is big and strong and huge just win with strong type wrestling sans skill. So as said, Taylor needs shenanigans, which I see as a very distinct possibility. It's about 50/50 - Aldric DEC via skills or Taylor by Shenanigans.

Green won her bout against Sofie Langsford by decision.

Yay :)

this, im looking forward to aldrich chocking her out

UFN 124 now has four women's fights with the addition of Taylor vs. Aldrich:

- Danielle Taylor vs. JJ Aldrich
- Irene Aldana vs. Talita Bernardo
- Jessica Eye vs. Kalindra Faria
- Paige VanZant vs. Jessica Rose-Clark

That's a first right? I think the last time we had somewhere around this many was three fights and it was on the KZ vs. Bermudez card (Andrade vs. Hill, Torres vs. Rawlings, Grasso vs. Herrig). (Well, there were obviously other cards with three, UFC 215 for example but I remembered the Houston card first).

Don't like Taylor so I'm hoping Aldrich wins... via robbery to make it worse. Make it a split decision after it looked like Taylor is the clear winner and have the scores be 29-28 Taylor and 30-27 x2 for Aldrich :D
