Official Women's Division Discussion #25

Invicta FC 26

Jennifer Maia (14-4-1) vs. Aga Niedźwiedź (10-0)
MIZUKI (12-4) vs. Janaisa Morandin (9-1)
Vanessa Porto (18-8) vs. Milana Dudieva (11-6)
Amy Montenegro (8-2) vs. Virna Jandiroba (11-0)
Amber Brown (6-4) vs. Tessa Simpson (5-2)
Christine Ferea (1-1) vs. Karina Rodríguez (5-2)

Looks good!

I figured Mizuki would be part of it, since the tweet announcing an announcement later in the day used a gif of her.

I'm especially looking forward to seeing Mizuki and Amber Brown in fights again!

Virna Jandiroba looks like she could be related to Dan Henderson.

There have been some very good points made about the harrows of weight cutting. Is it generally suggested that weight cuts take more of a toll on women than they do men?
I know a few women out there have broken bones while fighting/training, so the info about bone density makes perfect sense. Plus, the fluctuations in women's physiological/hormonal/etc. systems make it seem like cutting weight would be far less predictable. I know it does a number on the boobs, too. That's probably why some get implants. All the cuts turn them into deflated bags.

Yes, I think so. I've read that women's natural hormonal functions require a certain % of bodyfat that female athletes often fall below. Add the need to do extreme weight cuts, and it exacerbates that.

If you figure a decent sized implant is 1000cc, that would make them about 2.2 lbs each, or 4.4 lbs. for the pair. So a smaller pair of implants (750cc) would add about 3.3 lbs.
That's a lot of weight in a sport where a single pound matters so much.

Poor 'Cake!

No. They take a toll on men as well. In men the decrease in TST causes the same problems (with the obvious difference being no menstrual cycle to disrupt). That being said, the same decrease in hormonal output leads to the same problems with decreases in bone mineral density, decreases in immune function, recovery, etc. And the more drastic the cut, the greater the decrease in thyroid hormone output and other (non-steroidal) hormones. So should one carefully control their weight, the total decrease in the hormonal spectrum is not as great as the multitude of issues that come from extreme cutting.

Even neurological processes can be disrupted by an extreme cut.

It would make a small slight difference if they have silicone or saliene. Although female fighters should only be getting saliene.

Yeah. From a performance standpoint, well, it is a stupid choice all around. But, well, at my age I am well aware that I will never understand women and will no longer waste any time trying.

:)

randa markos has a fight can't wait for her to lose a clear decision and then say she should have won

<{dayum}>

Gettin' that hatemobile warmed up well ahead of time. Randa has a lot of heart and a good attitude. I hope she hits her stride and puts together a string of wins. I credit her with one of my favorite strikes in all of MMA (punching Felice's bubble gum on TUF.) I'd like to see them rematch.

I read it will be Juliana Lima. Should make for a fun fight. (Edit) I think it will be in January, 27th.

I'm sick of all of the terrible judging going on. It'll keep happening of course but damn.

(Of course I'm sick anyways. Sick of being sick more like it.)

LOL at Eye trying to get a gimmie win perusing PVZ, I’m glad the fight is not happening anymore.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Eye/KGB.

Perhaps it wouldn't have been a gimme. What were the odds in the recent SW title fight? Did anyone see that coming? I sure didn't give Namajunas any chance of winning.

That said, I'd still rather see an Eye/KGB match. Eye had better be fighting with everything she's got. Her lovely ass might be on the line!

hilarious that van zant thinks she deserves big fights, and its a shame jojo is out against the bogan, oh well , maybe they will meet in future.
hjc would be a good addition to invicta

At this point it seem better for the health of both of them to not get booked into a fight against eachother.

OK, I think I finally found out who Amanda Serrano signed with. I believe she will be announcing she has signed with Combate Americas this weekend.
