Official Women's Division Discussion #25

I'm 100% pulling for Aspen, but I've always liked the way Leslie fights.

Love her attitude. Loses part of her top, keeps fighting, DGAF. Loses half her ear, wants to keep fighting, DGAF. Fought at 125, welcomes Cyborg to the UFC, DGAF.

:)

Leslie Smith is cool.

Should be a fun fight vs. Ladd.

Priscila Cachoeira defends coach for not throwing in the towel in UFC Belem fight with Valentina Shevchenko

Referee Mario Yamasaki, UFC matchmakers, and PRVT coach Gilliard Parana have been criticized the past few days for the beating that Priscila Cachoeira suffered against Valentina Shevchenko, but the Brazilian fighter doesn’t regret anything.

Cachoeira lost her UFC debut against “Bullet” in the co-main event of UFC Belem on Saturday night via second-round submission, but many believe the fight should have been stopped before getting to that point.

In a statement posted on her social media in her native Portuguese, Cachoeira, who will likely stay out of action until 2019 due to a knee injury sustained in the first exchange of the fight, thanked her coach for not throwing in the towel.

Check the full statement below.

Aga has serious TD skill but I don't think she is ready for UFC now. She has awful conditioning & isn't explosive enough to get early finish against top WFLW fighters.
Agree. UFC should keep Aga and Porto at Invicta and bring Maia imo. Let 125 talent develop at Invicta..

Unfortunately, since Aga is young and cute, i think we may see her at the next polish event.

Suarez is undoubtedly the best prospect on the list.

Interesting topic nonetheless... I would say they all have top 10 potential, with the exception of Cooper, Botelho, Kassem, and Albu.

Dern is really overhyped for where she is at.. her striking and wrestling are not good, maybe even terrible. With that said, she has already shown the ability to be an elite athlete, compete on big stages, and win. (Perhaps most importantly, in a sport populated by other talented athletes) She also has only been fighting for a year and a half, most of those other women have been at this for almost 5.

Kassem next fight is likely to happen at 125. Shana Dobson could deliver a good fight.

A little more and better view of the names.

Another version of the 115lbs tournament with another name. Not sure which is the more recent at the moment.

I don't like these weekends with no wmma on the big show. Couldn't they find a spot for Ms Kaseem?

What should I be checking out anyway?

That tournament looks fun, Hracho is the only name that leaps out to me, guess I'm backing her then.

I remember back when it was, maybe, one women's fight in the world a month. How times have changed. On short here is a brief listing of what I have seen. Wombat might have other stuff.

Not many big fights on big shows. Agreed.

Sofia Silva vs. Lorena Quiroz (135) Ammy

2-10 Alyssa Krahn vs. Stephanie Alba, Fight Night – Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
(115)

2-10 Erica Torres vs. Julie Murray at C3 Fights, Newkirk, Oklahoma. (135)

2-10 Charmaine Sena vs. Melanie McIntyre at Reign FC, Poulsbo, Washington. (125) Not sure if Pro or Ammy. (I think I read something that suggested this is Ammy, will double check.)

2-10 Kelsey Gilmore vs. Jonna Wood at Valley Fight League 45, Martinsburg, West Virginia. (125) Ammy

2-10 SLMMA 13, Moscow, Russia
Anshelika Zakharchenko vs. Yustina Grachyk* (?)

*Grachyk has one pro fight at 135lbs.

2-10 Midwest Fight League, Macon, Missouri

Tiffany Chamberlain vs. Julia Shipp (115) Ammy
Brittany Pena vs. SHelby Garven Ammy

2-10 Premier MMA Championship 6, Covington Kentucky.
Shelby Mroz vs. Amanda Spencer (115?)
Caitlin Schwab vs. Tori Adkins (?)

I know Felicia Spencer did win a Invicta Contract back a few
years ago at a amateur tournament.

Yushin a Grachyk, bff with Anastasia Yankova, fights this weekend. I'd say it's worth a look.

I'll give Leslie credit; she really is down to fight anyone. I think Ladd will be a tough fight for her. I don't think anyone at BW wants to fight Ladd right now. (Kind of like Suarez at SW) High risk/little reward.

Kat was added into the bracket in the tba spot.

I like Macy for the strawweight and Chi for the bantamweight.
