Multiplat Official Star Wars Outlaws Discussion

Gameplay looked pretty underwhelming tbh. Combat looked pretty basic and the space portion looked like an on rails experience, meh. Starfield looked so much better than this, like how I'd want a Star Wars game to look and play.

Wow, a modern teenager-sounding female protagonist? I can't believe it. What a novel concept.
Yeah, I'm really tired of these cookie cutter character types that would be right at home on some modern era based CW teen show.

I really enjoyed the lore and world building of the Division games. It had great environmental storytelling too. However, the narrative was lacking.

I hope they brought in some good writers. I don't care for the protagonist so far, especially her dialogue/voice acting, but here's hoping there's a strong arc/story in here.

The actors/dialogue in Rogue One, Andor, and all of George Lucas' Star Wars movies were relatable (a bit hammy too), but they never felt like they were interchangeable with a character in a modern setting.

If I cant play as a Jedi, then at least let me create and play as whatever kind of smuggler/scoundrel i want. I wanna be a wookie or something, not some gen z woman who will probably spout girl boss nonsense.

This looks alot like a reskined Watchdogs game which may or may not be a bad thing. The concept sounds amazing, well see.

Some new details,

Star Wars Outlaws: One Planet Size Equivalent to 2-3 Zones in AC Odyssey, Locations All "Handcrafted" (mp1st.com)

Here are more details straight from Gerighty:

  • Focusing on “full freedom of approach” when it comes to encounters.
  • Exclusive quests, vendor prices, locked off areas can be accessed by the Reputation system. If you’re not in a faction’s good side, they can send people to chase you down, monetary punishment is also part of it/
  • Players will not have “total free rein” in terms of travel, you won’t be able to freely fly above the planet, and there will be set landing and take-off areas.
  • Nix (alien companion of protagonist Vass) can be directed by players to attack enemies, activate out-of-reach buttons, cause distractions, pick up heavy weapons from fallen foes, Massive says Nix is like a cross between Watch Dogs’ spiderbot, BioShock Infinite’s Elizabeth or like BD-1 from EA’s Star Wars Jedi games.
  • Each planet was designed to be big enough that traversing will feel like a “journey even on a vehicle that’s fast moving.
  • One planet equivalent to two to three of the zones in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
  • Locations are all “handcrafted” and there are no procedurally generated entire planets
  • Vass’ ship Trailblazer inspired by toys of the 1970s and was made to be “very, very simple.”
  • Game is set between Empire and Jedi, so Massive tans to emulate that “feel.” The studio has been developing tech which “emulates some of the lenses of the 1970s.”
  • ND-5 droid (Vass’ companion) design lifted from prequels.

I am not expecting a GOTY contender, nor am I expecting the next greatest Star Wars game, but it looks like a pretty fun game. I'll buy it at some point.

I’ll pick it up on Black Friday. Looks like an awesome world my issue with Ubisoft is they never really nail the gameplay aspect which is what keeps me engaged. This releases too close to black myth wukong. Prince of Persia the lost crown is a rare exception though, that game is truly fun

Lol Starfield? This comment hasn't aged well.

Been playing it today. It has its charm. It leans to much on stealth IMO. Combat feels wonky and the controls are odd.

The game looks good. I'm still very early in the game and the story so far makes me want to keep going.

I don't think I'd recommend paying 70 bucks for it, but it's 3 day early access with ubisoft plus which is like 17 bucks

I changed my mind on this. I said I'd pick it up on Black Friday but just a few months ago I had no idea how stacked fall would be. September and October will have me playing into 2025. Might just not ever find the time for it

Watched multiple people play this and yikes. I wouldn't touch this game if someone bought me it as a gift. Absolute garbage for the price they're pushing, especially with Ubi calling their games AAAA now, and even more so when i look at Ubi games for my childhood that had far more quality than this stinking mound of shit.

What an embarrassment of a game.

Saw multiple recent videos, and I have to agree. Not for me at all.

I fully understand needing that Star Wars look, but after almost 50 years, the planets just seem so mid now. Nothing feels new or creative in the game. I want science fiction planets to get weird again.

I doubt any SW game will go to the Unknown Regions anytime soon considering the brand is in the poodoo.

Looks ok, most people I’ve seen who aren’t agenda driven seem to like it well enough. I might give it a shot at a discount.

How is it agenda driven when they have videos of how janky it is?
People have been out for this game since it was announced. Don’t play dumb.

Seems like another case of, people who are playing it are largely enjoying it, people who were mad about it before it even released are the most vocal about how much it sucks.

I'm not a huge fan of the character's appearance (I think it's the hair) but yeah.... this game has been getting shit on for months prior to release. People were posting gifs of her knocking out a stormtrooper and crying how a wahmen shouldn't be able to do that. Absolutely ridiculous. Nobody would care about shit like this in the past but the culture war has to be inserted into everything these days to satisfy the endless hunger of the incel crowd. It also doesn't help that this game is releasing near Assassin's Creed Shadows that's also been part of a vicious hate campaign.

I'm really beginning to hate the internet. Maybe it's just nostalgia but I remember it being a much more positive experience. Nowadays it seems like it's become a hive mind and there is no room for nuance with anything. Every game is either GOTY quality or absolute woke trash. Also real shame to see Asmongold sell out to the anitwoke crowd. He was once much more nuanced with his thoughts and at one time I liked some of his videos. Now its just reactionary garbage.

It's not winning game of the year but
I'm enjoying the game. I dont mind playing as Kay. It's pretty repetitive but the story and environments keep me going. I did like Starfield more though
