I thought it was a bad stoppage by the ref -- a little premature. You need to give Wilder a chance to keep fighting if he wants to keep fighting. But his corner made the right call. They saved him from taking more damage.

Yes and no. It was a good stoppage in the sense that the fight was 95% over, and he saved Wilder from a lot of punishment. But there's still a small chance Wilder lands a big punch or gets a second wind. It's just not a good look when you stop the champion while he's still standing. Let him get knocked down and count him out.
