RBR ***Official*** Sherdog Sanctioned Beterbiev vs. Bivol: IV Crown Showdown 10/12 12PM ET (ESPN+)

Bradley saying it didn't live up to the hype. Bradley is a fucking idiot. How can you get paid to be this bad? Someone help me understand, lol.
bradley is always bad, but my god he was unbearable in this one.

i was excited for this fight and still spent half of it telling tim to shut the fuck up already. he isn't the play-by-play guy, but he runs his mouth 80% of the broadcast, and all of it is bullshit.

i thought the fight was really close, had them even or bivol ahead going into the championship rounds... which i think beterbiev won.

bivol gave it away in the last rounds, he coasted a little bit too much.

but i honestly didn't keep a proper score, so some of the earlier rounds that i gave to beterbiev could've easily been bivol's. i thought he was the better boxer, but i'm not too upset about the outcome.

These lame ass fans always gotta make it about religion when it’s a Muslim fighter smh. Turki thought Bivol won, all the judges were westerners, and the boxing commission in charge was British. So exactly who rigged it for Beterbiev?
The answer is a coalition of Jews and Buddhists. No one suspected a thing!

I'm with you, bivol did the better cleaner work but those spots dried up in the last few, he started the rds with a flurry but hid behind the earmuffs for too long, can't cry over the result.

Ok, can we now start talking about how dazn staff & the commentator crew didn't eeven mention RAMZAN FUCKING kadyrov's presence? This is fucking grotesque.

Yes, let's get our panties twisted over people not acknowledging the presence of a tyrant while broadcasting a fight card with the aim of promoting the interests of, to use your dramatic capitalization,...SAUDI FUCKING ARABIA.

Completely consistent moral outrage.

Should just have AI judge it, and have an end to this robbery nonsense every week, right?

At least half the rounds were close enough where both guys could have taken it.

People are also influenced by commentators who had it for Bivol. They were stuck in their narrative of “the boxer” winning.

I haven't actually seen this whole fight so I am making a more general point:

A lot of boxing fans have been subjected to a lot of gaslighting over certain defensive fighters such as Mayweather, and have convinced themselves that aggression doesn't matter. It does.

It's part of their hipster online identity. Instinctively favoring defensive fighters is a way to project this false sense of 'superior' boxing scoring knowledge. To be on the side of the more aggressive fighter is to risk being accused of being uneducated.

For reference the BBC commentator scored r10 for Bivol (which seems generous):

R1: Bivol 10-9 Beterbiev

R2: Bivol 10-9 Beterbiev

R3: Bivol 10-9 Beterbiev

R4: Beterbiev 10-9 Bivol

R5: Beterbiev 10-9 Bivol

R6: Beterbiev 10-9 Bivol

R7: Beterbiev 10-9 Bivol

R8: Bivol 10-9 Beterbiev

R9: Bivol 10-9 Beterbiev

R10: Bivol 10-9 Beterbiev

R11: Beterbiev 10-9 Bivol

R12: Beterbiev 10-9 Bivol

Good thing all three judges were Christian.
Wasn't the judge who scored Canelo vs Floyd a draw from the US? I'm not claiming anything fishy went down in this fight but lets not act like the judges always have the full power here. Money knows no religion or nationality.

I think the point he was making is that there are a million explanations of why the fight was scored this way, firstly it was just a very close fight, secondly Beterbiev was the aggressor and many judges favor that style, and I could go on with reasons. You have to dig pretty deep in the bag to come up with “Saudis rigged it for the Muslim”…pretty asinine to jump right to that.

it was a close fight, on eyeballing it without scoring i thought Bivol nicked it but it was very close

not sure where all these people have come from who think a punch that is blocked scores, a very odd take, possibly the MMA crowd jumping on the wagon

I understood all of this. I'm not saying whether the fight was rigged or not. I'm happy with it going either way. Also I agree jumping straight to "rigged because Muslim" is a stretch. It's just the same argument could be used about bringing up the judges being Christian. The argument shouldn't be to continue using religion as to why the fight couldn't be rigged.

i think he’s insinuating that the folks scoring it don’t have an inherent bias for the Muslim fighter that skewed their judgement because they’re Christian. If the other argument is that the people in charge rigged it that doesn’t make sense either. Boxing is a money sport, those in charge don’t make decisions based on religion, it’s a business for them. I’m pretty sure Turki and the riyad season folks probably wanted Bivol to win because it opens up the Canelo possibility, having a Canelo fight in Saudi is exactly why they got into the boxing game to begin with. It’s just idiotic to think they make these business decisions just because they share a religion with one fighter.

To clarify, do you think blocked punches don't count in scoring everywhere, or specifically under British Boxing Board of Control guidelines?

It seems you are making a sweeping statement.
