Canelo couldn't destroy a 40yr old GGG. Canelo fans live in a fantasy land. I've learned there's the hypothetical Canelo that "destroys" everyone. Then there's the real Canelo that gets schooled by Bivol and goes 12 rounds with a 40yr old fighter he was also supposed to "destroy". There's a reason Canelo is fighting trash can Ryder instead of Benavidez.

I believe that Benavidez would have knocked Plant on his ass were it not for terrible officiating. Bayless did not do a good job. But Canelo is doing his usual ducking of touch opponents. When Canelo runs into adversity he ducks. Immediate rematch with Bivol? Nope. Immediate rematch with GGG? Nope. Immediate rematch with Lara? Nope. Huge Cinco De Mayo fight with Benavidez? Nope. He choose trash can Ryder. Canelo is a duck. Whenever he sees adversity he runs the other way. Benavidez on Cinco De Mayo would have done huge numbers, but Canelo wants trash can Ryder instead.

David landed twice as many punches at a higher % than Canelo vs Plant. David did not looking amazing but neither did Canelo apart from catching Plant and stopping him. David did good work but that clinching spoiled him a lot.

Yeah but Canelo stopped him, Benavidez power is vastly overrated, he's a volume puncher, one thing to knock out tomato cans, whole other level to finish world class boxers.

That wasn't the narrative going into the fight. Canelo was supposed to "destroy" GGG the way his fans are saying he'd destroy Benavidez. I used to believe the Canelo hype too. Him smoking all those euro-bums at 168 had me thinking he'd taken the next step, but he hasn't. He's good, but Canelo fans put him a pedestal that he hasn't earned. All this talk about him destroying everyone in hypothetical matchups is getting ridiculous. I bring up GGG because Canelo was supposed to flatline him, but we all saw how that went. An old geezer went 12 rounds with the might Canelo.

Canelo isnt a volume puncher and never was. He sets up KO's with technical precision, and has so consistently against higher level opposition.

40 year old Golovkin still wipes the floor with nearly the entire division, and very well could still beat Benavidez lol.

Canelo got schooled by Bivol, but at least he had the sack to fight him. Seem to recall Benavidez wanting zero part of the other top 175er…..while claiming no one will fight him.

I watched the UFC fight night which ended at around 10:30 EST, and flipped over to the PPV. I was able to catch Colbert vs Valenzula and Ramos vs Spenser which were good fights, but I fell a sleep during Plants walk out. It doesn't sound like I missed too much, but it still pisses me off.
