Ya... Very long... I’m not sure WTF but I got into it about 45 mins & the game crashed.
Now I’ve gotta start all over... I’m not sure if it’s a PS5 problem or a digital problem but it’s happened quite a few times with Super Mega Baseball 3.
Not once with my PS4 Pro or Slim.
I’m feeling the sentiment & need a beer.

I had a great run going, unlocked some key items in the light saber and key to the first boss. Had a bad ass electropylon gun that was wrecking mobs. Jumped into the first boss fight and and didn't get hit for the first 2 life bars. Started getting really antsy in wave 3 and shit the bed. Got him down to a sliver of health and died. I was so pissed.
Started a new run and was glad the first boss key was still there to jump right back in the fight, but started rushing areas because I knew my play time was short and died a few times in really shitty fashion and didn't even get close to the boss gate.
Looking forward to starting fresh in the morning to take my time and build up my arsenal.

Bummer, I had some crash issues when I first got my PS5 but it’s been smooth sailing since. My shipment was delayed so no Returnal at all for me. Wasn’t going to have a chance to play until Sunday anyway.

Put a few runs up to the 1st boss and I've gotten him down to a few hits of the last phase and go down in flames. His last phase has so much shit to dodge and he starts rushing you, but with the cool down of the dodge I just haven't been able create enough space.
There are a few weapon mechanics I'm not entire sure how they work together. Weapon proficiency goes up per kill and as you increase, higher level weapons drop during your run. Then there is Weapon Trait and Weapon Research, both of which are building up towards 100%, just not sure what happens when I get there. I think Traits will permanently level up one of the traits on the weapon and Research will permanently unlock additional traits maybe.
One thing I'm finding different than most of the Roguelites I've played is there isn't much character advancement you build on each run. I've unlocked a few permanent suit upgrades, but for the most part each run has you cometely starting from scratch. The weapon trait/research builds so slow it doesn't feel like you get a little stronger each run. I've gotten completely steamrolled right out of the gates, and other times breeze my way to the boss.
Another thing that is super annoying is the overload system that works like the quick reload from Gears of War. The mechanic is great, but the button to activate the overload is the same as the fire button. So when shits going crazy and you're blasting away you're gun will empty and before you know it you fail the overload and jam your reload. Need to see if I can swap the buttons on my next session.

I got 2 runs, first one was ended by a big ducker.
I had a great 2nd run, and made it to the third boss, which is a clusterfuck, in couldn't guess where to hit it and got a ton of damage before getting the hang of it
Got a couple of permanent upgrades too

Hopefully they will add a mid run save option. I can't play it before they do that. Sometimes I only have time to play 30-60 minutes.
Almost every time I turn my ps5 on, my son has been playing Lego star wars or avengers. My progression would be killed every time.
The game itself looks absolutely fantastic though.

They're afraid people will try to cheese it and purposefully crash the game so they can go back to a save point instead of dying. I can understand what they're trying to do. The entire experience is based on the fear of losing almost everything.
BTW - This game is straight FIRE! Loving the experience so far. I am on my 2nd run (died once - in a real shitty way, fell in a pool of water a few times and was running low on energy... 1/3 left and died to some scrub enemies eventually). This game is creepy and nerve wracking...

Great so entitled cry babies are going to force these devs to dumb down the game. I hate modern day gamers with a passion. The runs get faster as you progress. They even add shortcuts and skippable fights once you get further. Just fuck these kids. I better beat it quick so I can get the experience that was intended.

They should just make it optional. Tie it to an achievement system so you can only get all the achievements playing as intended. If people want to just play casually they can. If they decide after beating it they want all the achievements they can go back through with the experience from their first play through.

Beat the first boss this morning. Had a good run up to him with some pretty key drops and smoked him.
Also think I figured out why weapon talents skill up was so slow. It actually unlocks pretty quick, but I think you need a tier II talent to keep the bar moving. I just assumed that it kept leveling the talent on the weapon, but it seemed to lock at a low %. Once I got to the second boom, I started seeing additional talents on the weapons with higher skill proficiency.
Still have no idea what weapon research does. I hit 100% with the Electropylon, and it just dropped back down to 0. All it appread to do was unlock further description of the weapon, it didn't seem to enhance it in any way. It does still say that more research is required and the bar is filling up again, so hoping that once research is maxed it does something more than tell me all the cool facts about my weapon.
I will say the second biom is wrecking me. A lot more shielded turrets on the outer edges of the rooms. Going slow with the electropylon I can make slow progress, but I've died a few times thinking the coast was clear enough to engage, only to have a turret pop up and blast the shit out of me with limited cover. My last run was cut short when I ran into a big shielded armadillo. Was pretty low health when I got to him and was letting my eltctro fields finish him off, but he had ground wave attack that went through my cover.
I was really impressed with the haptic triggers when I first started playing, but was finding that during intense gun fights it was hard not to mash the button and engage alternate fire. I eventually got to the point that I wasn't aiming and just hip firing most of the time to avoid accidentally shooting off my alt weapon. Went in and changed the gamepad from default to classic and moved alt fire to L1 and Items to R2. It made a huge difference in my runs since my accuracy has gone way up. Didn't see an option to uncouple Fire from Overload, so still jamming my gun constantly. Most weapons its not a huge deal as they are either slow enough to keep on top of the ammo or they're rapid fire and meant to hold down the fire button, but with the Pistol it happens constantly. Holding the fire button down shoots to slow, and feathering the R2 for rapid fire drains the mag quick and it's super easy to hit it one to many times and jam your reload. It has just enough ammo in the clip to lose count of your rounds, and if you hold off of fire for a second it auto generates ammo and you lose track of how many rounds until the next reload. There is so much shit flying at you in this game it's hard to keep track of the ammo counter.
Other than that minor grip, game is a blast.

FUCKIN' A!!!!
Was on my 2nd run.. First run I died in a silly way very early. Fell off a bunch of times trying to reach something i thought i could so i was running low on health most of the time and finally died fighting.
Was a lot more carefully the 2nd time around and more or less cleared the whole area and was ready to head into what i think is the boss area (later confirmed by my friend as we were chatting as we were gaming). Anyway as i am making my way back towards to boss room the game CRASHES!!!! IT FUCKIN' CRASHED!!! Iam like NOOOO!!!!
i lost everything (as in the game thinks i died) and have to start over again. Really upset about it. To make matters worse during this 3rd run i am stuck in an area. Teleported into a room, grabbed a couple of things and and tried to fabricate an item.. The item was made (? on top of pedestal) but it's glitched and i can walk through it and cannot claim it. No only that but i cannot leave the room. The teleporter doesn't recognize i am there. Been stuck here for a good 10 mins and i might have to force a restart... Really REALLY annoyed right now...

I've only used it once since the cost is pretty high for how common ether is. The one time I did use it though was before the second boss and was able to get his mechanics down the first go and drop barely drop him on the second go.
There is also an artifact you can build called the astronaut charm or something like that, that has the same effect. At least I think it does, have only found one so far.
Beating the second boss seems huge though since it unlocked the grappling gun. There are tons of areas and power ups in the first area that need the grapple, so hoping on following runs it will really speed up the process.
Put my game in rest mode just after the second boss with a sliver of health, so hoping on entering the 3rd biome I get a health boost.

In solidarity, I lost south of an hour of gameplay today (just before logging in actually) as a game I'm playing crashed as well. Was so peeved that I just calmly shut everything down and did other stuff for a while; couldn't mentally be bothered to rerun it at that moment. Crashes are probably second only to corrupted savefiles on the robbery scale. *kicks rocksFUCKIN' A!!!!
