Yeah I saw this vid.

Without Ray Tracing it's hitting 60 FPS perfectly.
With Ray Tracing it's dipping to around low 50's FPS at times but generally sticking to 60 FPS.

As awesome as this sounds I'll be playing this on my PC... hehehehe

This is why Sony needs to hurry up and implement VRR support. 50 fps with free sync feels just fine, and I might actually play this on my PS5 instead just because my TV has fantastic hdr whereas my monitor doesn't do hdr well enough to even warrant turning it on.

Just finished the castle demo, a considerably shorter demo than the first. Felt like a 'Maiden' demo retread.

Just wow, the damn textures, lighting, sound design (that ambient sounds tho), wow, wow, wow. The castle is damn special and gorgeous. The atmosphere might be the best in an RE game yet.

The PS5 might be the ideal way to play this game.

The 3D sound, the dualsense controller, and everything just comes together nicely, if not for the damn controls feeling like molasses. Ill play on PC, but the PS5 might be the way to go.

Hmm, I dont recall seeing that setting, thanks for that, it was probably that along with the low sensitivity that made it feel like molasses. Ill make sure to turn that off with the full release.

Didn’t get to play the demo last night but this is why I’m glad they’re releasing them. I can play the PS5 and PC demos and decide which is best.

Im looking forward to the demos releasing on PC. Ill see if the ps5 with the audio/dualsense is better than the control customisability and better graphics of the PC.

I never played a RE game in my life except the first one on PS1 or was it PS2??? I just remember trying to leave the house and the dogs scaring me. I never touched it again lol. Is the series worth playing now? Like in terms of the handling

Its pretty much survival horror perfect, a few games reach the level the first game has reached in setting out to do what it wanted.

Definitely worth playing, but will feel outdated to the casual fans of today. Try REmake, as the remake is pretty much the most beloved game in the series to the hardcore fans. Make sure to use the directional buttons instead of the analogue sticks.

It feels like Capcom turned a page for the past 7-8 years. RE has never been so good. Lord were RE5/6 mediocre RE games, even though admittedly, they were 'good games' looking at them compared to the games of the times.

Capcom has been killing it for the last few years:
Monster hunter world, iceborne and rise.
Resident evil 7, 2 and 3 remake and Village.
Devil may cry 5.

Capcom has knocked it out the park with the PC version. Drop dead gorgeous. The PS5 might be the better experience with the dualsense and 3D audio, hell the HDR is better aswell (dunno what Sony did with that magic), but the key binding and sensitivity control makes it for me. I hope we get a FOV slider, and Im hoping for some optimised GFX settings, I was getting a steady 165hz on Max without RT, and around 144hz with RT at 1440p.

Was doing more testing to see how I can get the best performance on my 3090 FE. Turning everything to Max (including RT), removing that shitty chromatic aberration filter, and keeping Image Quality at 1 yielded up to 189fps indoors and upto 165fps outdoors and was consistently above 115fps outside and 155fps outside. Runs smoother than the PS5, looks way better, and turning on virtual surround and keeping the dynamic range as "High" yielded a similar sound to the 3D audio of the PS5.

The HDR and dualsense on the PS5 are still damn great, but Ill stick to the PC version. Capcom did a masterful job optimising for the PC.

I thought it was coming out in the fall, not sure how I missed this, I'm so pumped!! I was ignoring the demo's as I hate cockteases when the game is still so far off...little did I know...

Thanks for doing some testing @jojoRed. I got a new tv a couple of months ago, and have been really disappointed in Windows HDR. I'm going to create a sep thread on it, but I appreciate the feedback in that dept

I think I’m sticking with the PS5 for this one. My 3070 isn’t going to yield that much better than the PS5 and I’d be missing out on all the PS5 features.

The dualsense alone is worth it, but a 3070 and a decent SSD should outperform a PS5 by some margin. Tinker with the settings Im sure you can get double th FPS with the RT aswell.

Running through Returnal with the Haptic feedback is making think about this. RE Village here would be awesome. I may not be done with Returnal before REVillage drop honestly. Having way too much fun with this game.

Honestly, I get it. I was thinking the same until the PC demo solidified my choice. Youre gonna have a cracker of a time with the game regardless. Remember your GPU is an amazing card aswell, if you do decide to go PC.

If my knowledge is correct, Returnal is basically second to Astrobot in terms of how well the Dualsense is used. The haptics and the audio make the PS5 an amazing way to play RE8 though.
