No Spoilers Official Red Dead Redemption 2 Discussion

Any dads out there -

My kid is 11 and he has an absolute ban on GTA.

He watched me play RDR2 and got RDR1 as an early present (I bought the PS3 to play Yakuza 4&5). I reset his RDR1 when he started robbing banks and stores and going psycho GTA. Told him the name of the game is Redemption.

I’m thinking about giving him some Westerns for Xmas to watch with me.

Magnificent 7?
Fistful of Dollars?
Maybe even Unforgiven?
Django would be cool in some scenes because... reasons... but probably not.
Fistful of dollars FOR SURE

Midnight Club on PS3
Love this game, and I never said they release shit games. San Andreas is a masterpiece.
Dunno why you feel like Im offending you because I criticised the game. And your kid crying over Arthur's story doesnt instantly mean the story is some masterpiece. Kids cry over anything slightly moving whilst it probably seems cliched as hell to older people.

People need to understand that just because someone criticises your favourite game doesnt mean that its an attack on you etc. Its why people only want to watch reviews that reflect their own thoughts on a game, sometimes of a game that hasnt even come out yet and feel the need to defend it once someone criticises.

Some of my favourite games in TLOU, MGS1, DS1, BB UC2, AC2, RE4, DE etc all have massive flaws and I can see why people would not like them. Understand this, you can like a game and people can have their opinions on it, and it doesnt invalidate your opinion.

Ok then.

But I think my kid crying over the first game or film in his life while having watched some weird shit... like Kurosawa or Beat Takeshi... and games like God of War or the Yakuza series means I can have the opinion that it is a masterpiece because it makes me and him cry (and I'm a fucking blocked up MF who didn't cry for 15 years in a row before something else happened and I can cry maybe once every two years). My kid hasn't cried over any other film or game. I'm watching Unforgiven now and I can see what Rockstar did. We're gonna do a Ford Western weekend over Xmas.

Best game ever? Witcher 3.

Second best? RDR2. Or Planescape Torment. Or Fallout 4. Or Skyrim. Or Spiderman.

BTW San Andreas has the best soundtrack of any game and is awesome.

The Cowboys with John Wayne left a big impression on me as a kid, it was hard to relate as a kid to most Westerns but that one was about kids and really stood out to me. Once Upon A Time In the West is my favorite Western, might not be perfect for a kid but you'll like it at least.

My fav western is For A Few Dollars More. Cool to see Eastwood and Van Cleef team up.

Unforgiven is a great movie as well but i suppose it's more an anti-western.

I still can't make up my mind on RDR2. In some ways I love the technological marvel it kind of is, but it gets tedious and I just don't find it gripping me like some games do. I've not even bothered playing much of the online game. Hitman 2 has been my favourite recent game so far.

Okay it’s gonna be the Dollars Trilogy plus some Wayne.

Kurosawa he can start as well but that shit is DEEP.

Yakuza films at 15.

I feel like a savage with the Slow and Steady, Unblinking Eye and Strange Medicine combo. I love lighting up a cigar after getting in to a close fire fight with multiple people in Most Wanted and just grinding by to notice my Dead Eye is red. Though I like to pretend it's a blunt because I'm a child. For real though, lighting up after cementing your lead and being the lone survivor is amazing.

At level 1 the combo didn't feel like it was doing much but at level 2 it's making a very big impact. I can't even imagine what it's like at level 3 with another card on top of that. I can't decide on the sprinting defensive buff or headshots refilling my Dead Eye.

Is there only 1 place to take stolen stage coaches?

Ok ive got all the weapons...i think. And ive modified them (dont notice any difference between scop sizes), now what? What do i do with all this money?

Legendary shit. It seems i need legendary pelts to craft anything special and ive not found any legendary anything. Worth the hunt? If so, how?

Kid is watching a Fistful of Dollars...

Fucking film from 1964 is now a game in 2018.

Add Unforgiven.

And my kid loves samurai films.

And I’m telling him it’s Jojimbo... and explaining the difference between a spaghetti and ‘clean’ western.

The man with no name is slowly becoming Arthur Morgan at 50 minutes into Fistful of Dollars and the kid is counting his $ and his honor rating and I’m explaining to him that he’s done exactly one honorable thing and he actually did it for money as well.

Doesn anyone know the answers to this hot guy's questions?

All the western movie talk in here got me started on Hell On Wheels. 3 episodes in so far and it's pretty bad ass

Now I can't seem to do any stranger missions. They are there, they are lit up. But when I go in, the prompt is shaded and never pops up
