Can't escape the stereotypes ha, make it a Long Island iced tea. That's the only tea I drink.

I was showing the BJJ guys some take downs, I really want to hit this rolling Kouchi on my next tournament. Any ideas on a follow up attack after steam rolling?
I'm going to see if I can keep the arm and slide into a Juji Gatame. It maybe my next video.
I've been trying to work on doing that as a followup to my failed seoi nage, but I usually don't bend my legs low enough.
If they don't have good guard retention, slide into kesa then tap them with constant, unyielding pressure. All that time to work, with no danger of standups...

I dont really like this throw, because you end up in his half guard.
But in case you do, here is my suggestion- rotate your body inwards, until you are facing his legs, and he is looking at your back.
Then grab the top leg with your both arms and kneebar the bottom leg with your legs only.
Not the same position, but the same principle:

Brochacho, its funny you mentioned it, that is exactly what we where working on that day! Half guard kneebar and I showed them Kouchi for that reason. Sucks though, I won't be able to do them in BJJ unless i'm a brown belt or something. Kind of sucks.
Did we become best friends!
Well, then you could use the position just to open his legs and pass. Then pin him for the rest of the match...
@DYK22:
Asking as a fellow lefty player, what do you do if you lose the grip battle or just don't get your desired grips? Like, if you go for a left hand gripping lapel, and right hand gripping sleeve, but they are good at defending your grips?
My go-to is if I can get left grip on lapel and right grip on sleeve, I'm going for all lefty throws, but if they won't let me get sleeve, I go for eri seoi nage over the right shoulder. Sometimes, if I get really turned around, and all I can see is a standard righty grip, I try to fight from there. Yay or nay?
I agree.Mike Swain, Neil Adams, Dr. Dre, DJ Skribbles, Old Milwaukee

If I go against someone who knows how to block my left grip, I will get his mind off the gripping game by doing Ouchi, Kouchi or deashi with sode grip. This loosens their arms up at times, which I will either swim my arm under, or feed the lapel with my right hand.
I also use eri grip and throw tactics but I'll fight to take my grips back. Another tricky way is to grab his armpit, in competition I don't mind grabbing a little bit of flesh.
I'll do a armpit grip to uki goshi, o uchi etc to get them to move and relax, then I retake my grip.
I can't emphasis not hanging around with your grips. Get your grip and SPAM AWAY with your tofu waza. :icon_lol:
Is ura nage a legal throw in competition? That move looks dangerous as hell. It's basically a suplex.

Didn't have a chance to test your advice recently. I was able to get my preferred grips no problem in randori since you told me this. I'll keep it mind though.
I AM going to start going drop eri seoi now, though. Not the drop where the dorsal surface of my foot and my shin are both flat against the mat, but the super squat version. Besides me never seeing the flat foot+shin version EVER working, methinks the super squat version will be great to practice because my legs will get stronger from all the squatting and it'll get me used to getting low for my standing seoi nage as well. I still have issues with coming in too tall with my seoi nage.
lol maybe you are, but one of my most common randori partners is ambidextrous like me. I just call myself lefty because that's where I usually like to work from. He's not as good on the left side as I am, but he can still threaten me.Good thing about being a Left Judoka, you're always going against Right handers and expect that you will go in a Left vs Right.
Well, I'm more looking to practice it for the reasons I already mentioned, than actually use it.Not a fan of the squat seoi nages personally but I'm quite tall for my weight so there's that.
