What's the verdict on Garbi? I think she's hot because she is a BEAST of a Judoka, but i'm pretty sure she's not into guys.
I can never get it like that.
I feel stiff as hell in randori nowadays. Just can't get back into tachiwaza
If it makes you feel better I couldn't throw an athletic 27 yo ex H.S. wrestler. He kept his hips far and stiff armed like crazy. Just waited for me to turn in and he would take me down into my guard.
I don't mind it since I need more training like that being a newb at BJJ and competing in the blue belt division.
I hate people like that.
I've got my first bjj comp soon and I'm not sure if I'll be entering as a blue or white, as I understand it a black belt in judo has to enter as blue under ibjjf rules but I don't think its ibjjf.
Tbh I think the coach likes people to compete at White before they get blues as most of the new blues recently competed but the White belts can't do a thing to me so I'd rather test myself.
your not allowed as a judo black belt to compete at white or blue belt unless you have cleared it with the event organisers. If your BJJ coach wants you to compete in a BJJ competition being judo BB he should give you a BJJ blue belt. what event are you planning to enter?
You've just totally confused me there ha. How could I not be allowed to compete at White or blue?
I've got no idea, it's a local one that a few of the bjj gyms in the area host. Nothing big.
I haven't actually said I'm a judo BB, he just knows I do a lot of judo.
And he also doesn't know that I'm competing, I just know that there's one sometime fairly soon as a few of them were talking about it.
As I've said, i can comfortably hold my own with all but two of the blues and one of them is a lot heavier than I am, the other is a four stripe and tbh I think he'll get his purple soon as I struggle with him more than most of the purples.
I'd planned on asking my coach about it anyway over the next couple of weeks.
But yeah as I've said, I'd prefer to compete at blue.
A judo bb who understands the rules of BJJ competition is already at blue belt level, IMO.
....aaaaaaand I'm back to just judo. All my BJJ days conflict with my two judo clubs' hours. So... halfass both, or focus on one? I chose to focus on judo. It's more fun anyway.
Also, I'm really... REALLY liking my eri seoi nage right now. That under the arm pocket grip is money.
My 5 year old son started Judo today, me proud daddy.
Focus on one young grasshopper! Seriously, waiting until I was proficient as a stand up grappler has made my transition to bjj so much easier. I've already proven myself through the hard part, now I just have to get gooder off my back. Easy as cake!
