I do like a good romance in games...

With that said, the Yakuza series pretty much blew GTA out of the water for me in terms of storytelling. I also wasn't impressed with GTA Onlines characters, especially the more recent ones.

I'll probably pick it up, not a definite though.

I have said I will not get this one, but I'm sure all the 10/10 OMG GOTY, GOTG, reviews and comments will break me. Definitely no pre-order though

Yeah, I get you.

If there is an online as well, that'll probably seal it for me. I spent a lot of hours in GTA Online...

Another thing to think about is how it'll run in the Series S...

I just hope this is as awesome as it has the potential to be and takes steps forward, I was not a fan of GTA 5. I've been nothing but disappointed since San Andreas. I enjoyed 4 but it really didn't do anything new or interesting.

Damn 19 million views in 4 hours when people didn't even know this was coming. This game is going to break all kinds of records.

I'm not literally expecting the detail of 9/11, as far as buildings collapsing (though that would be great). But I do expect the airplane to explode on impact into a huge fireball. That should be very doable, especially considering cars already do that if you crash going fast enough. Not just stop dead in its tracks, wings pop off like a toy, and it falls to the ground like nothing.

As for fully destructible environments, that's something I've been wanting since SA. I remember playing PS2 games where that was possible, and more modern games have a lot of destructible environments. I don't see why that would be such an issue for what is basically the premier video game company on the planet. I hate that basicaly all of the structures in GTA are made out of adamantium.

I don't know why they couldn't implement it into their existing engine. Or at least a future version of their engine (RDR2 = RAGE 8, GTA 6 = RAGE 9). By RAGE 10, 11, 12, or whatever it is when the next GTA gets here they shouldn't have so many limitations and should be able to implement this stuff.

The way I see it, depending on what the object is, it'll either be easier or harder to destroy. If you want to burn down a Cluckin' Bell, it shouldn't be too hard with enough fire and explosives. But if you want to bring down the FIB building or a bridge over the bay, it's going to take A TON of explosives and whatnot (you can't bring it down by just spaming rockets from a bazooka). As you're attacking it you're quickly building a wanted level, making it even more difficult. Point is, the bigger you want to go, the more difficult it is. But say you're successful and bring it down, then over the next several in-game days NPCs will be busy cleaning it up and will eventually rebuild it. Maybe it takes an in-game week. Not too long, but long enough to do your damage justice. During this time the area is off limits and any missions that take place there will be temporarily suspended. If you try to go back and stop NPCs from rebuilding it you'll get an instant 5 star wanted level. This allows the game time to repair itself as you destroy it, and keeps you from leveling huge chunks of the city in one go. Of course this depends on what the object is. If you go back to the Cluckin' Bell while they're rebuilding it and mess with them in any way, it's an instant 2 star wanted level, but an actual skyscraper is 5. In the mean time the radio will acknowledge the terrorist attacks and comment about the perp still being at large (if you survived the police coming after you). If you die during the attack, the game will skip ahead to whatever you damaged being ~85% fixed. The radio could still acknowledge the attacks in some way. Then when it's finished the game continues on like nothing happened.

That's how I envision it being done. With today's technology and how quickly it's advancing, including the implementation of AI, I don't see why this won't be possible by the time GTA 7 rolls around in ~12 years. From where we are today (2024) versus ~12 years from now, shits gonna be revolutionary to an almost unimaginable degree.

A GTA game will fully destructible environments is my dream for GTA, along with a map the size of Just Cause 2.
I remember playing and loving Red Faction on the PS2. It was SO cool to have a nigh fully destructible game. Then RF2 came out and walked it back and for the last 20+ years I've been clamoring for more fully destructible or at least largely destructible games. I'm fine with graphics taking a hit if it makes the environment more versatile.

Wow, that trailer is damn impressive. The graphics are def next level, my pc just laughed at me.

I really hope they keep the spirit of the franchise, and don't hold back and go after everyone South Park style. For the slog that RDR2 can be gameplay wise, the writing is awesome. I'd like to see them match the storytelling quality, with less gameplay tedium.

I like the protagonists too, they look like a lot of fun to play. The way the first trailer came off, they made it look like a more Lucia centric title, but I'm glad to see them both having the spotlight.

They def nailed Lucia's asset we all associate with Latinas, physics are on point.

Elder scrolls 6 thread started dec 2016.

Looks terrible tbh
5 was a let down

Game mechanics were like it was an arcade game
I expect the same, cars that take no damage, skippable missions, a watered down version.

They need to just remaster gta 4

I'll say this, they haven't skimped on the production values. Holy shit, that looks insanely detailed.

That said, I'm not feeling a distinct vibe with this one. The others had like a very distinct identity from the first trailers. Whether it was the city vibes or the characters. It felt like it had a focus. This seems kind of...bland? You got the Vice City setting, but it's in modern times, so what's the point? The two main characters don't exactly jump off the screen either.

Eh', we'll see.

It just looks too... idk... far from the tone and style of Vice City and SA... which is the kind of GTA I really love. These games that are almost more 'a movie you play' than simply just a FUN game to play are just completely uninteresting to me.

We'll see if I am wrong

Rockstar Games has a pattern of building off their previously released game tonally.

This trailer strikes a good balance between the braindead dialogue of RDR2 and comically over the top movie tone of the GTA series.

Graphics look great, it's cool to see they improved on Lucia's character model. She looked pretty mid in the first trailer but she looks MUCH better now. With there being only 2 protagonists instead of 3, hopefully the plot of this game will be better, longer and more focused than 5's story. I also hope there will be more to do on the map as GTA 5 got old really fast for me. There just wasn't enough to do and was the first GTA game I didn't have the desire to run around in the open world fucking around for hours upon hours after finishing the story. It was also the GTA game I spent the least amount of time with.

Honestly I don't care about any of that. I just want to have FUN playing. I had WAY more fun with the early 3D GTA games than 4 or 5

What do these two franchises even have in common though? They’re so different. Yakuza games have become a bit overrated imo. There’s just too many of them. I wish they would slow down a bit and rely less on reusing the same assets. Take a few years off and release a banger. I’m looking forward to Project Century though.

GTA and Yakuza are both crime dramas laced with humour.

I prefer Yakuza because I just think that it does characters and hard hitting moments better, and takes morality more seriously. I couldn't look at GTA the same way after playing it.

I'm happy with Kamurocho and Sotenbori, though I'd like to see them be expanded a bit more. I'd like to see more of Japan as well. Expand on the maps used in Yakuza 5 maybe, or return to Okinawa...

Hawaii is a bit of a weird one for me. It's a beautiful map, sure, and it's different, but I don't think that they've incorporated certain things well.

Also yes, I'm also looking forward to Project Century...

Thankfully the woman is super hot. Unlike a lot of modern games that purposely make the chick ugly or butch.
