I legit wish I could ask Gedo what his hard on is for Hikuleo, Finlay, and Evil.
Evil is a funny case cause I was all about him becoming a top guy 3 years ago, but then they were like "stop working good matches and we're gonna give you go away heat where even the kind Japanese audience groan when they see you, and still push you anyway".
Finlay is a skinny fat nerd that I'm supposed to believe is now all of a sudden a bad ass cause he died his beard black and wears one of Evil's left over goth vests?
Hikuleo has been in New Japan for like 6 years and still blows.
New Japan is weirdly loyal to their dojo guys, even if they blow they'll still push them as long as they stick around.
Honestly, I can't stand Hikuleo, Tama Tonga, or Tonga Loa. Feels like effort watching any of their matches, even on the occasion someone can pull an above average match out of em.
I like what's going on with Bullet Club at outside of Finlay. Just really wish they had someone more interesting as the leader.
Evil is just Evil, I guess. Can't expect anything different from him now.
There was a lot of good stuff about this G1, but it's a shame it's been overshadowed by questionable booking. Some are upset about the reiwa musketeers not making playoffs, and I honestly didn't mind that because they booked them well in the tournament. The problem is putting Hikuleo in the playoffs instead. You have Kaito Kiyomiya and Gabe Kidd right there as wild cards lmao could have even had Kiyomiya v Okada rematch in the playoffs.
B block was probably the block that made the most sense with the outcome. It was pretty solid all the way through with Tanga Loa being the exception, and KENTA deciding to try a few times lol
Block C had Shingo Takagi, Ishii, and Eddie Kingston where all three had a great tournament in terms of matches. Shame they decided to put Evil and Finlay above them.
Still got Block D to be decided tomorrow. That's been okay, but a lot of meh stuff in between the good matches. At least you can always count on Yano to be entertaining. Coughlin looked pretty weak outside of a tag team environment.
