Multiplat Official Fallout 76 Discussion

Is the settlement building any good in this game? I actually loved that component in FO4 and would really enjoy doing it online with others.

Can you raid other settlements and steal resources?

I’m glad this game is tanking hard. It’s absolutely crazy to me that people are now O.K. with buying a game and then waiting a year for it to be worth the money they paid.

I've been playing this a lot. So far, there have been small issues. One example being, a Deathclaw was supposed to be at a certain location on the map, but it wasn't there. So I left the server, reconnected and it was where it was supposed to be. In my experience it's been all minor shit like that. (I have clocked around 40ish hours so far...days ago I got the 24 hour achievement).

I'll say I fucking LOOOOVE this game. The no NPCs make it feel so empty, the soundtrack is phenomenal. I'm curious to see what's in store for the future of this map. I'm wondering if they'll add stuff like Fortnite did (trash game, but neat they added stuff like the comet).

Keep in mind New Vegas (the one every kid on the internet makes love to) was the glitchiest pile of garbage on release.

LOL at people that pre ordered this when its on heavy discount now

I went to check and $40 is still too high from what I'm hearing. If it dropped to $20 I'd give it a chance.

I was hoping I'd find a deal for it this weekend but decided to play Skyrim since I had never played it before and it's been in my Steam backlog for about 5 years. I gotta say, I think I made a very good decision.

I personally have a very high tolerance for poor technical performance if the game is fun. Kingdom Come is the glitchiest game I’ve ever played and I still enjoyed it.

My main concern is the lack of NPCs, quests, and lack of real VATs. All that said, if this game did settlement building well I’d consider it at $30.00

it's somewhat the same other then having a smaller build budget then in FO4 and your camp is portable in this one. There's also the problem of building your camp on uneven ground using foundations then moving your camp and the building you built not being able to be placed. As for raiding other camps razing them and steal other players shit you can do it but it will put a bounty on your head.

Interesting thanks. Are people actually putting time into building camps or is it an afterthought?

I haven't came across any I tried with my first one but stopped because it wouldn't place on flat ground. Plus with as big as the world is it's easier just to build a small camp that's easy to place to off load your crafting shit do your crafting then pack everything up and move. There's also world building spots that kind of has a tower defense mini game built in once you claim those spots.

Fallout 76 is tanking harder than I've seen a big title tank in a long time. The price has been lowered to $30-$35 range already and that is a terrible sign since the game just released. In addition to that some people are reporting that Bethesda is giving refunds to pissed off customers.

Unhappy Fallout 76 PC players receiving refunds from Bethesda
Customers continue to report that their refund requests are being honored, but there's no official statement or criteria as of yet.

Bethesda embarked on an entirely new adventure with an online multiplayer entry in the Fallout series, but not everyone is enjoying the ride. Every single game that launches always has some unsatisfied customers, but the outcry from Fallout 76 players has become significant enough that the developers have been pushed to respond. Bethesda is allegedly offering refunds to Fallout 76 players on PC if they reach out to customer support.

It's more streamlined, and you can pack it up to be placed elsewhere, just make sure the ground is the very similar.

The problem is the tiny limitation in item/object placement. Theres a reason they called it camps and not settlements. The biggest issue is the lack of items and materials. They've held back so much to charge bullshit prices in their store.

They need to open this up to modders now, it's the only way to save the game in a timely fashion. They're already slashing prices, might as well open it up to people who have always fixed Todd Howard's messes.

I dont know what they have planned DLC wise, but considering the bugs, and the ridiculous prices for micro transactions, I dont see them fixing enough

I love BGS, and even Todd Howard, but he needs more oversight. Their games have arguably gotten worse since Morrowind. I Love them all, dont get me wrong, but the trend towards dumbing things down, not to mention bugs, has finally reached a climax with FO 76.

Except they really aren't lol.

Basically I think it goes, if you bought the game and didn't install it, you get a refund. If you installed it and played it and didn't like it, tough shit.

I feel for the people who bought this and feel ripped off, but at the same time I hope they learned there lesson and steer clear or at least proceed with more caution when it comes to Bethesda games moving forward.

If this isn't a sign that this was a cash grab and just bad game they slapped the fallout logo on to take advantage of the name and the goodwill they've built up with customers over the years, I don't know what to tell you.

Not trying to rag on those that bought it and are enjoying it at all either I hope you guys are having fun and if you feel you got your money's worth and this is what a AAA experience should be moving forward into 2019, I'm not going to argue. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I’ve raided two bases easily. Don’t think you can get anything from someone’s stash. But whatever junk a player has on them is up for free grabs.

PvP is unbalanced and fucked up. As level 30 I can stash all my crap and gank low levels for junk I’d usually pass up. There is no real incentive to pvp people your own level. Some materials are found at higher level but the bulk of material is accessible to everyone.

When you are building you have your material on you, and usually drop your guard. Even though damage is reduced I found myself killing people after a few shots and hits who did not engage back.

To me building serves no purpose. It doesn’t do much to assist farming and You are not rewarded anything for it. My stash can only be accessed by me so I don’t need to defend it, and unless you build by an area people frequent no one will see it.

Yes, and so will millions of other people. Fallout is a flagship title which I'm sure I don't have to tell you. Most companies are lucky to ever get one true flagship title but Bethesda has been lucky enough to have several. Its Todd Howard and his extremely punchable face that needs to be outed here. He's the dumb bastard that couldn't tell this was not only a bad idea but it was the opposite of what all the fans wanted, which was Fallout 5. I don't know all the exact reasons why I hate Todd Howard but I know I hate that guy. I can't even stand to look at him when he speaks without thinking what it would be like to punch him in the face. I don't even like his name.

th

Todd Howard has gone on record saying they like the way they make there games in this engine cause it's easier and said shit like "they cut out all the extra things" or something along those lines, basically all the things that make Fallout you know, Fallout. Emil Pagnliano or whatever his name is, that guy definitely needs to go. He's terrible for the series.

I don't think Todd is bad at his job at all, he actually helped bring Bethesda back from the dead with Morrowind. One thing I will say though, is he sure seems to have gotten lazy and complacent over the years.

I get that there are people very loyal to Todd Howard, both from the fan base and within the company, but he is a smug bastard who will lie right to your face if there is money to be made. If Todd Howard was still the badass that bailed out Bethesda with Morrowind then why did he push Fallout 76 on the fan base? If he was incapable of understanding this was a disaster waiting to happen then he needs to go and if he knew it was a disaster waiting to happen and pushed it out the door on the fan base anyway, then he needs to go. Either way I wish it was his neck on the block.

This is what I was afraid of. So disappointing.

As easy as Howard is to blame for Bethesda’s shortcomings and as badly as we want someone to blame, it is not practical to just assume that he’s suddenly to blame for all of this.

Fallout 76 has cash grab written all over it and reeks of a game created purely from executives far removed from the actual gamers. Todd’s job requires him to sell the sizzle even if the steak is an undercooked burger patty.

Howard May have lost his touch and may be unmotivated, but I seriously doubt he spear-headed the creation of a FO online game and gave his thumbs up on releasing a festering pile of half-baked shit that carries a namesake that helped establish his legacy and career.

Joe got Angry.

That guy is hilarious.

Lengthy side note though:
I've only recently started paying attention to the "gaming community" or whatever you want to call it, as it is today. Gaming news sites, streamers, reviewers et cetera.
Holy hell has that scene exploded since back when I was playing games regularly. It is a lot of fun, but at the same time it is kind of scary how something like a AAA game bombing can cause absolute furor across the internet. Just watch Angry Joe's screaming 30-minute diatribe, and then consider that the topic is just a game. Not politics or anyting like that, but a cheap entertainment product that you are free to buy, or not, if you choose to do so.

Here is the problem. Bethesda rolled out Fallout 76 is an unfinished state, on purpose, while billing it as a AAA bad ass game, while at the same time stripping a flagship title of everything that most Fallout fans thought was fun for the last 20 years, while using Todd Howard as a high profile shill to sell it to the masses for $60. People are going to be fucking mad. Not because the game sucks but because they were lied to. I can guarantee you NOBODY at Bethesda thought this was going to go well and they did it anyhow. Now they are backtracking and lowering the price of the game almost immediately after release to try to play a little clean up.

If you like Joe then check out Mack. He cracks me up. His 2nd part and full review is up.
