Hoping it works when day comes. it was an AUS code so I had to make an AUS playstation account. Im In the US. it worked and downloaded, but im concerned maybe I wont be able to access on the day the servers come
up
 
ok SO I watched streamers Fextralife and Oroboro play and give their thoughts... here are my takeaways:


-Your horse's name is Torrent
-Arcane stat is for item discovery
-There are 12 bosses in the network test and the whole test is 6-8 hours and only a small sliver of the entire map
-open field bosses are easier than most souls games, but main bosses are just as difficult as previous bosses in the series
-2 forms of magic: Sorceries and incantation
-no solo invasions
-you can resummon phantoms after you kill a boss. (dont know why they disappear in the first place)
-Armor is way cooler, best fashion souls
-spirit summons are easy mode, make boss fights way easier
-Magic is OP, not Demon's Souls OP, but stronger than other entries in the series

Bumming. But like you said, going in fresh is always the best. I'll give it a shot and report back.
 
Elden Ring looks amazing, but frankly I'm going to be one of the dissenting opinion and say I don't have massive interest.
With the Souls series, I feel that when I completely Dark Souls 1, I played all there needed to be played.
Played some DS2, found it vastly inferior, uninstalled. DS1 is where it's forever at, for me.
 
I wanted to know more about the open world and design philosophy that From was going for. Im so fucking glad they bucked the bullshit from the generic open world games. Seems like nearly everything is filled to the brim with new shit, and they seem handcrafted. This might be their magnum opus.

They may actually change open world titles for the better.

Hmm, maybe because youre in a different continent me, since its an EU link. Just google 'Elden Ring closed network test' and go on the Bandai site, then login.
