You do understand the idiot twins pushed GRR out in season 7 and he was so disappointed in season 8 he was on a media touring basically saying “none of that is how I would have handled it” in the middle of season 8 right? At no point does the fall from season 7 to 8 represent him or his efforts. If anything he tried to lobby against it with his own time and energy.

GRRM did say though after the season finished that where all the main characters end up in the show (Jon north of the wall, Danny dead, Bran king, Sansa Queen) is where they’ll end up in the books too. He did not completely disown the show.

You know what George should have done? Finished the goddamn story before the TV show ended. He had so much time to do so and only has himself to blame if he isn't happy about the TV show.

Didn't the first ASOIAF come out like 23 years ago? Goddamn! Trying to Frank Herbert our asses.

"But the lore is so deeeeeeeeep!!" say the hardcore GRR fans. I dunno. Herbert took 20 years to make 6 books after like 6 years of research for the first one. At this rate, given GRR apparently has a final book after the Winds of Winter, it'll never be finished, and we might see a fashioning of notes and story beats, ala Herbert's son with his expanded Dune books, which retained most of what Herbert had created, but missing much of the charm and specific outlook he had formed from such a diversely lived life.

Frank Herbert’s son is a fucking fraud. All his dumb prequel shit that he claims is based on notes he found in a safe 20 years after his dad died. Bullshit. I’ve read his Dune prequel and sequel novels and there’s no way that Frank came up with any of that terminator wannabe garbage.

Yeah, compared to his dad, the expanded universe books are cheap imitations. Gone are the deep philosophy intertwined with futurism and old ideas like Jihad, conquest and fated wills, replaced with pretty standard action storytelling.

Pity, considering the revelations in ChapterHouse, or the stuff about Daniel and Marty were so tantalizing, then his son did away with the mysticism in much the same way George Lucas did with the force, explaining it in definite terms and removing any mystique.

*Sigh*

When are you guys going to learn to stop getting hyped for games based on minimal information of the quality the final product?

FromSoftware has released some gems but also some of varying quality, and since when has GRRM's name being attached to anything since Dance With Dragons mean it will be good? Have you guys SEEN the last two seasons of GoT? Or read any of the Not-ASOIAF books he's had his name on?

The Not-ASOIAF books weren't crap, but quickly forgotten even with GRRM's name on them... but they sold well, and apparently that's all that matters to the publishers.

I don’t give a damn about the fat man.

I think we’re all just desperate for some more information after seeing a teaser trailer almost 1.5 years ago.

So you're falling for the typical 'announcement with CGI teaser trailer' hype.

Do I need to bother with the numerous examples of those types of games that end up being shit? And that's the list of the ones that are eventually released, unfinished & unpolished, so the developer and publisher to make up some of the production budget - Taking advantage of fools falling for the hypejob marketing that will buy it on Day 1, baited by glowing reviews from mainstream gaming publications... rather than wait for legit word-of-mouth reviews.

Publishers absolutely love gamers that fall for this, and fall for this again, and fall for it AGAIN after that.

Don't get me wrong, I've fallen for it, but each time I fallen for a deceptive hype/marketing tactic I think 'oh they got me, well that's not going to happen again that way' because I value my money and only am going to exchange it for quality products.

What are you on about? Falling for what? I want to see more and they haven’t released any new information.

It’s literally that simple.

I don't think it is a matter of the lore being "deep". ASOIAF's lore is actually quite shallow for fantasy standards. I think the problem (for Martin) lies with the character arcs being so intricate and dependent of one another.

GRR Martin's just having David Benioff and D.B Weiss put the finishing touches on the Elden Rings story.

I bet you'll be fighting confederate soldiers in some crazy gothic realm with porgs and shit. Those guys would just think of shit they've seen and include it, lol.

Another game event another no show.

Hey, it's number 1.

But yeah, I'd assume that the story was already written when the announcement was made. Wouldn't make much sense to announce a game without it even being written.

lmao. Up until i looked more into Wasteland 3, this is the only game i'm super excited for. Cyberpunk is high on list too, but nothing like Elden Ring. I'm dying for any info! This about the best we've gotten

I do this all the time, but youre absolutely right lol

I found it odd that the game was announced before Sekiro was even out.

Anyway, I’m just going to ignore until they actually get around to release more information about It. Could end up great, could end up being like Anthem, could end canceled. Time will tell.

Elden Ring has become a meme at this point. Just give us an update one way or the other.

I’ll be fine as long as they’re still working on a new IP whether it’s this or something else. Or give us Bloodborne 2. Either way.

They probably don’t have any update to give. They’re probably having production troubles so they’re just going to keep out of the limelight for a while rather than admit they’ve got nothing to show for the last year of work.
