Multiplat Official DOOM ETERNAL Discussion

I think I'll start this weekend after I finish the last few missions of 2016. That will be five playthroughs and a bunch of UN attempts so that should be enough for now.

Am I the only person who gets nervous before they start a new game?

It's weird, like little nagging doubts about not liking the game or having to learn new mechanics or a few other silly thoughts that never come to fruition. Who knows, maybe I'm just afraid to move on.

No, I usually go in assuming it will be shit. That way I'm even more impressed when it's good.

I'm also actually worried I might like it more than 2016. It's been such a refreshing surprise after first playing it five years ago and giving up in the second mission because I couldn't find the yellow card key.

I liked Eternal but got stuck on a boss and quit

Doom Eternal simultaneously elevates and kills the franchise. they completely spit in the face of what made 2016 so great and refreshing, but its hard to go back and play Doom after the gameplay of Eternal.

Eternal is so much fun but lacks any of the gritty charm of Doom.

I had the same problem with a boss in eternal, took time away and then beat it my first try back lol.

This game is hard. Getting whooped.

Restarted a couple of times already because I feel like I need to get a lot better with the new mechanics and movement before the heavies show up, like always being out of armour because I can never remember to use the flame belch. Also couldn't figure out how to solve a puzzle after infiltrating the cultist base so I'm just going to follow a guide this time.

The combat seems like it will be a lot of fun if I can get the hang of it but the platforming has got to go. Someone needs to mod in some teleporters to skip all this nonsense.

I love the hell knights. Something that big running at you at a full clip is some shit.
Yeah they're scary af now. They turned cacodemons into a joke but the hell knights more than make up for it. Great redesign.

Who are the dudes with orange blades for arms in the first slayer gate?

Never seen them before and they scared the shit out of me when they showed up. Really cool fight and arena.

Those are the fireborn barons of hell.

It was the one with the annoying meathook mechanic required to do damage. I'd either miss entirely, fall too early or fly past and miss my damage window.
