Will the PL expansion prove a do-over for the title after widely maligned launch?

You're so lucky to be doing your first playthrough now. The 2.0 overhaul and Phantom Liberty were game changers. Not only is it running really well now, they've added a bunch of QOL improvements/updates since then that were previously made by modders.

I'm envious, have fun!
Yeah, it's great and I pretty much dismissed it after launch since there wasn't many good things being said about it, even on it's merits, so I avoided any and all spoilers as well. I honestly didn't even know what kind of game to expect, other than an RPG of sorts, so a lot of the more real time sandbox elements have surprised me. I was expecting something more along the lines of TW3, in terms of world design with big empty spaces creating an illusion of a big world, but this is actually a lot more like GTA with how packed it is and the freedom to mess around with it and cause a bunch of chaos.

Only thing I've been slightly disappointed in, was that after a mission it gave me an "optional" choice to get dressed. So I was thinking, "I wonder what the NPC's will say if I just walk around naked?". Nothing much, unfortunately(although I didn't stay naked for all that long). I would've settled for one measly cat call.

This is my favorite game, and I am about to do playthrough #4. i am not a big Mod guy but my co-workers keep saying i should mod the fuck out of it. I know I need to go to nexusmods. In the past I only loaded the sidequest mod. What are the suggestions for modding Cyberpunk for my 4th playthrough?

YouTube is your best friend on this subject.

You should definitely mod the fuck out of it lol

There are tons of great mods. Just be sure it's not outdated.

The one I found to have the most impact on a playthrough, immersion wise, is Dark Future. It makes it into a survival game, where you need to eat, sleep, drink, rest, and relax.

It's handled by bars (like a health bar) that manage thirst, hunger, energy and nerve (basically stress). It redesigns the consumables, and apartments to affect the aforementioned in a variety ways.

For ex, if you go a long period without sleep, your energy will lower, giving you debuffs to attacks, while also affect your accuracy. Sleeping in your bed will replenish your energy bar, but your food and drink bars will lower. That's easily remedied by various foods and drinks you can buy, however, some shittier foods will negatively affect your nerve.

There's so much more, like addiction, buffs for drugs, showers and playing guitar to lower stress etc... I just love how makes your apartments essential, giving you a reason to go there.

You can also adjust each aspect of tje mod, like how quickly you'll get addicted, how much it will affect, how much food you need to refinish your hunger bar, how quickly it depletes etc...

This is the tutorial I used last year to learn how to install mods, it's excellent, and really easy to follow along with.

Not sure why it took so long, but I will be playing this for the first time very soon. Finishing off GOW: Ragnarok + Valhalla (think I'm in nearing the end of the base game). I am looking forward to it. I have been waiting for an RPG like this for a while. Elden Ring had some fun classes, but Cyberpunk looks to have really cool classes that are more in depth with specific abilities etc.

You can modify skills a lot

Like i had

Katana melee build aka "street samurai" (probably everyone does this one at some point)

Then i did barefists plus hacking also known as "senator armstrong" lol

Honestly, the samurai/Ghostrunner build is probably what I thought of first when deciding on a build, lmao. It almost looks too fun. Hacking also looks very fun.

I've played through the game six times, so if I could give my 2cents -

The best offense & defense build is this Tech Shotgun Tank build.
On Very Hard difficulty you will be able to make MaxTech your bitch... easily.

If you like to play games in an 'evil' way... You're going to have fun with the most evil gun in the history of videogames - Erebus.

Its the best SMG in the game, but effectively is an automatic shotgun with a 50 round magazine... And it sends its victims to cyber-hell.

Look up a SMG build that will effectively lower the recoil to 0%, which is its only flaw. Its undoubtedly is the best automatic weapon in the game.

Note - It can only be found at the end of Phantom Liberty with ONE of the finales... 'Side With Reed.'

Don't know about you guys but I loved playing as Johnny Silverhand in the flashbacks at the end of Act1.
Playing through the story straight to get the gun for yourself is an awesome option, and using this 'Johnny Silverhand Gunslinger Build.'

Why does this stupid CD Projekt Red launcher keep on crashing? It takes me 5 times to load it, but sometimes it works well. I tried to disable it but still the same result.

It's cool that Keanu Reeves is a major player in this, but damn, does he ever phone it in. In fairness, it's a role suited for him, so it could be tough to notice, but I would not be surprised if he literally just got this job and read his lines over the phone. There's zero emotion. Every line is delivered in some monotone manner. It works, but I also notice the laziness, like somebody who could do a decent stereotypical Reeves impersonation could've done what he's done.

Done 3 play throughs so far, 1) assault build, 2) Katana build (absolutely loved this one), 3) stealth / silenced pistol build.

I’m going net runner next time. Still need to decide what weapon to use with that build.

THats literally his acting style. he is now permantly John Wick.

Honestly gorilla hands worked well with my netrunner build lol

Jam everything then beat the shit out of with fists

About 35 hours in and I gotta say, "stealth" is absolutely pointless in this game. You can do it if you want to, but damn near every time I try, I'm always spotted by someone and all hell breaks loose. There are simply no penalties for fucking up, so it renders it kind of moot. Like, I could spend an hour sneaking around and reloading saves when I mess up, OR...I can just kill the fuck out of everything in five minutes and beat the mission.

It just makes me think that in order for stealth to work in games, there has to be a penalty for messing it up. Otherwise, what's the point? You're giving me options, and I'm gonna go with the most efficient choice. In a weird way, it reminded me of "Saints Row 4", where you get superpowers right out of the gate, but you still have the "traditional" ways of playing the game that are rendered useless, because you simply don't need to use them. You'd have to be a serious "role player" to even bother with it.

This did ultimately save the game. And it is among the greatest games I've ever played. I'm glad I was locked up and by the time I got to it all the bullshit was worked out

You ain't lying. I don't recall ever doing anything stealthily, I just busted in all Guns of Navarone and got into fire fights with everyone

There's mods that fix this big time. Stealthrunner, in particular.

It adds stealth objectives to every single quest and gig in the game, and a new perk tree and reward system for completing them without getting detected, without being seen or leaving a trace, without touching anyone or killing anyone.

Pairs great with the dark future mod @GtehMVP was talking about since that mod indirectly influences you to be less violent to keep your humanity loss in check.

If you're looking to get into Cyberpunk modding here is what I did.

Welcome to Night City is a very popular vanilla+ type mod pack. It's pretty much just QoL and immersion/animation mods. It has a secondary install called Cyberpunk THING which adds some more gameplay mods that tweak combat and add thematic cyberware, and the stealthrunner mod I talked about. Stealthrunner is incredible.

There's tons of mod packs with different levels of difficulty to setup. Get a Nexus account for a month and download their vortex ap, pick one, follow their instruction and have fun. Welcome to Night City is a great base you can't go wrong with, pretty much every mod pack includes most if not all the mods in it already. It's a true one click install, no extra steps or tweaks really.

Now for gameplay this is more up to you as to what you want so I would suggest researching to find exactly what you're looking for.

Dark Future been talked about and it's great. Makes the game a lot more interesting to play especially if you've already done a bunch of vanilla playthroughs already.

Enemies of Night City complete overhaul of the enemies, mini bosses and boss fights. Really good mod, enemies and bosses have a much wider variety of attacks and will use a lot of moves that player has access to against you. Enemy netrunners use more attacks also, and will even instant kill you so you really feel the pressure when they're trying to hack you.

They Will Remember Another mod that completely changes the game, adds a reputation and disguise system that keeps track of how many kills of certain gangs you have. Gangs will hate you if you kill too many of their people, they'll call for reinforcements at locations when you're identified and even send hit squads after you. It also makes your street cred matter more, at high level of street cred weak enemies can recognize you and flee or surrender.

Cyberware-EX adds more cyberware options, more cyberware slots. There's another mods Immersive Cyberware that looks interesting but I haven't given a try.

Night City Alive makes the gangs and police fight each other, gangs roam around in cars, etc so it's not just everyone coming after you all the time.

Missing Persons Fixer's Hidden Gems adds nearly 200 mini gigs that direct you to various hidden loot locations and easter eggs already in the game that you might have missed otherwise. Cool way to see more stuff the devs put in the game that slipped by you in previous playthroughs.

Another mods that looks very good that I haven't tried yet is Hardcore22. It tweaks the combat so everyone is less bullet spongy, but also more deadly. Most enemies will die to a single headshot but so will you. I'm also not sure how compatible it is with other mods since it tweaks a lot of enemy and weapon stats.

Graphics mods and the like are a personal preference and hardware dependent and there's tons of them. HD Rework textures is a popular one to start, but you can do so much with graphics and cosmetics if you want.

One other mod I would say is an auto-include for me is the simple Immersive First Person. Just makes it so when you're looking down you can see your body. Also more gore.
