Will the PL expansion prove a do-over for the title after widely maligned launch?

In regards to the question asked in your poll, CP2077, for 2 years, was the most hyped game in the history of the industry. That may be a controversial take so a more agreeable take is it was the most hyped game since GTA5.

And it was a complete disaster.

For those who are familiar with CDPR and their reputation, it is either completely unforgivable to so deceptive in their marketing... or mostly forgiveable since they've worked their asses off for 2.5+ years to make it the game that was initially promised.

For those who love Witcher 3, and/or waited for the 1.5 update that made it very playable, its very forgivable.

But those who were so hyped up for it they bought it Day1 after months or years of anticipation.... it wasn't just a disaster, it was a betrayal.

CDPR may gain alot of their reputation back through this update and expansion, but it'll be impossible for them to gain back the 'A+, 10/10, gold-standard' reputation they once had.

I started a new playthrough and the game still sucks on Ps5.

Game hard crashed during the second story mission

on ps5
<Huh2>

Game was really good after the bugs were sorted and I look forward to the expansion. Lucky I just bought a MSI 4090 Suprim liquid, gonna be sweeeeeeeet.

Just a reminder - The 2.0 Update is FREE & Downloadable now.

The Phantom Liberty expansion is downloadable in 5 days, and there's numerous reviews of it on YouTube.

I've restarted several times, and cleared most of the side missions with V.

I don't think I want to restart.

Unless that fucking athletics glitch has been fixed...

I hate level scaling.

And losing my progress after spending 75 hours building this sweet netrunner, only for that type of character to be moldy garbage now? Not cool. Restarting before beating the game the first time will really, really sting.

I believe its recommended to start a new playthrough, but not required. You'll able to reallocate your upgrade points to the new cyberware system and keep going into the Phantom Liberty missions.

But you may have such a good time with the expansion you'll want to start fresh with a new playthrough in the near future.

That's what I'm going to do. It just...so much time, I knocked out so many NCPD things and fixer missions, almost maxed level, and hadn't even met Panam. So much time, burned.

Oh I hear you.
Given you're so leveled up in the game so early you're actually have more of the game to develop than you know because the level cap was increased.

Somewhat off subject - I really wished the NCPD missions were updated to be somewhat more believable.

So shortly after the game begins you're given 80+ locations on the map of supposed criminal activity... happening all at the same time, 24/7, and they never expire. They're still doing whatever criminal activity in that exact same location, for hours, days, weeks, or months until you arrive to kill everyone and take their loot.

One of the biggest fixes to the game I was hoping for was to make the NCPD locations spawn randomly (like real crime), close to your location (like a quarter mile), and expire if you don't respond to them within a few minutes.

And that'd happen constantly throughout the game with no end, and they'd get tougher as you level-up. Rather than after doing all the NCPD missions, and you get the impression you've eliminated all the crime from the crime-ridden Night City.

Downloading 2.0 on PC, will probably buy expansion soonish. Just right on money going a small trip next weekend but still will take up most of my money with rent and everything.

@JayPettryMMA

Just saw the title of this video and thought of you -

All Changes In 2.0

Yeah man, I went in for a few minutes and goofed off with my old, obsolete character. Skill trees look fascinating and I didn't build right because my netrunner gear was borderline useless still. Driving is much better, tighter and more responsive, and it doesn't feel like you're driving with a slippy cloud anymore. Shooting out tires is a great minor upgrade. Police are no joke, and they respond much more actively now. I accidentally shot out of my window when I was trying to figure out the new controls and they chased after me and gunned me down. A head shot took my health down from 200ish to ded.

And man, healing items and grenades? My stockpiles are useless, that was so heartbreaking. I had hundreds of those things, and I could sell 100 grenades for quick cash if I needed. Now, N/A.

Level scaling is still terrible. Everything is a bullet sponge, even the random minor crappy gang guy sitting on a couch, who has a dinky pistol that takes a third of your life away. There's real challenge and artificial challenge, and this is the latter. It's not even a case of "get good." When you're surrounded by a small army of gang members, and you can't really hurt them by spreading quickhacks or grenading them, and you have to hide and pick at them. It prompts an entire different style of gameplay, which won't be welcomed by everyone.

Those would be a great change on the system. Not quite procedural, but escalating challenges as you do feel like you're cleaning up the crime. Otherwise, you're just saving some screaming person from getting mugged, or getting involved in a shootout.
