I have early access through labs, so just played a round of conquest. I was also in the 72 hour playtest last month. It really does feel like the successor to BF3/4. The movement is a bit faster, but you can't expect everything to remain the exact same 10+ years later. I'm running on PC, and the visuals and audio are phenomenal. Destruction is insane, and vehicles feel good. I'll answer any questions you guys have!

Its pretty fun. I had to fuck with my BIOS to play the GD game.

What’s resonating with people this time around? Is it the lack of silly stuff like putting Beavis and Butthead in CoD? Are people just sick of that stuff and jumping ship or does this game just simply also have a large fanbase already and people are happy to see it go back to its roots? Which one is more likely?

Its not that deep.
Crunchy SFX, great graphics, and a gameplay loop that isn't predatory.
The fan base was already there and stuck in a feedback loop with COD.
I know EA doesn't have the best track record but Im willing to try anything other.

Steam is reporting 334,549 concurrent players at best so far. That is only steam. BF2042 all time high was 142,000 or so I believe. Ppl are hyped!

It's going to be over a million, especially across all platforms. It's still early afternoon and lot of people are at work, and it's still closed beta.

I’d hazard this time around may be different after Wilson, EA CEO, has said more than once that EA underwent a refocusing after back-to-back sales woes when spreading resources too thin that going forward, there are three franchises getting blank cheques to reignite their already devoted playerbases.

These were Battlefield, Apex Legends, and I forget the third but maybe Sims?

The fact that they let the head of Repsawn take over is the only reason I have any faith in this next BF. Between Apex, Star Wars, and Titanfall they are clearly a studio that know what they are doing. They gave him control during BF2042 but IMO it was already to late. This BF game was something they got to do from the ground up.
