Here we go only a matter of time now before EA starts putting their stank on this game. God help Respawn.
I'm really curious about the details in their deal with EA, because they seem to hold a lot of clout. I looked into as much as I could find. It was their (Respawn's) decision to release Titanfall 2 at such a terrible time (between COD and BF1). Making Apex Legends, and not work on Titanfall 3, was their decision too, from what I've read.
They're still working on their Oculus game as well, which comes out this year. VR isn't something we see a lot from EA, if at all.
Judging from the interview with Vince Zampella (Respawn CEO) and Patrick Soderlund (then Exec Vice Pres of EA, overseeing all game production) Zampella was brought onto Soderlund's Executive, which gave him a lot of power surely. Respawn were the creators of COD (Formerly OG Infinity Ward) so they know what they are doing. They seem to share an affinity for live services with EA brass.
Soderlund was the CEO for Dice before taking that role at EA, so perhaps Zampella has replaced him?
I'm not sure what Visceral's leadership (Dead Space) was like, but they were shut down after Dead Space 3 did poorly. Titanfall 3 didn't sell very well, but EA clearly has a lot of confidence in Respawn to have purchased them for half a billion, which they did so after TF 2 released.
I was surprised that Bungie was able to leave Activision with the Destiny IP in their hands. I'm sure they paid a hefty penalty for it, but perhaps Respawn has a similar deal. We'll prob never know, but one thing is certain, EA loves Respawn atm lol.
