Oculus Go

Thank you, sir. I've noticed some of these in the store. I've been thinking about getting Bait, bc I like fishing anyway. Not familiar at all with a few of them though. Dead and Buried makes me instantly think of a great horror movie from the 80's, but I've never heard of the game though.

Question for anyone who knows, can you side load games from other platforms onto an Oculus? I've seen YouTube vids where this seems to be the case, and I want to play GTA 5 on it.

You can certainly do it on the full Rift, not so sure about the Go as i havent looked at it.

If its the one that just uses your phone, doubtful, i managed to put it on my PC and it had to have the original install of GTAV, which is a pretty hefty install for a phone at 74gig

Could the game run through a phone if the game was saved to an SD card, maybe?

i very much doubt it, there are a lot of modifications you need to make, and thinking.....will GTA V even run on a phone.....????

Idk. I've looked into it briefly, but never really made an in depth search.

This is what got me interested.

Looking at the minimum requirements for GTA V unlikely able to run on current generations of phones. It still requires a pretty beefy computer to run with 8 gigs min. and GTX 960 or better. The phone games are getting considerably better though now that you have 3 to 8 gigs to work with and 3 plus ghz 64 bit ARM CPU's with HDR level graphics on a phone. There will be a point where many people will not mind a decline on graphics slightly as long as game play is solid. At least this is what I think Facebook seems to think a bulk of the gamers will be coming from anyways.

I would question this just due to the hardware requirements on this game unless they are streaming it from a PC? I would hold off an not buy the Go due to the Quest being around the corner. Yes the quest costs twice as much but you get two controllers a vastly faster CPU and GPU as well as 6DOF that's a game changer in this space with 6DOF controllers.

There is nothing at all in that video to suggest it is running on a Go, other than the title of the video. And the youtube account basically looks like one who posts spam videos.

I'm playing San Andreas on my phone, and this is true of me. The quality isn't much worse than the platform versions and there are only subtle differences, like it doesn't tell you the name of the vehicles you drive in the lower right corner, you can't change the radio station (as far as I know). Otherwise, basically the same game except CJ looks kinda autistic.

I already bought the Go. I had no idea about the new one coming out. The Go is still pretty sweet, but I might buy the new one after a year or so, when the price drops.

Yeah, that's why I was asking.

It looks cool, but I need new tech like I need a hole in the head. I have an XB1 and 360 with hundreds of games between them both. A friend of mine built several retro multicades and I bought on of them off of him too. My laptop is okay, but far from a gaming rig. I can run a game cube emulator at best with it.

I bought the Green one. There is some wood trim around the Marquee now though so the light doesn't shine through. I run NES, Sega, SNES, Atari, Arcade, Gameboy, and Genesis emulators with it as it runs off a Raspberry Pie.

My phone is an older lower level Samsung that has very little internal space as well. I don't use my phone for a whole hell of a lot of things though and refuse to get a new one until this one breaks as it works fine. $200 seems pretty reasonable price for something like that though.

Not saying that's not cool (it's very cool!!!!) but is there a slot for you to attach console controllers for you to play these games or are you stuck with the arcade joystick? Just saying there are many games where the gamepad would better IMO.

As interesting the hardware was the lack of 6Dof for both the control and the headset was a deal breaker for me. The lenovo mirage solo was interesting at the same price point as the Quest but lack of a 6Dof controller or controllers really lost me now with the Quest they fill that void. Google and Lenovo are working on a 6DOF controller for the solo but lack of not having camera's all around the chassis like the Quest really limits the range of motion.

Here’s an article on how to use the Go as a display.
