I received one of these for Christmas, and while I haven't had a lot of time so far to really play around with it, I'm pretty blown away by it. I've played around with some rollercoaster apps, skydiving, noticed that watching any kind of move/TV apps make it seem as though you're in a room watching a 180" screen.

Do any of you have a Go or a similar VR headset? A Rift, or a Samsung Gear? How do you like it and what are some fun apps and games you've used on yours?

Not sure if these are supported by the Go, but they run on my rift:

Subnautica
NoLimits2
Batman VR
Raw Data
Pavlov VR
Project Cars 2
Fallout 4
Superhot VR
Brass Tactics
The Climb
Beat Saber
Eleven Table Tennis
Echo VR
Robo Recall

Some of these games have Demos, some of them are through Oculus(and some are free), some are through Steam.

If you want me to break them down a bit,or give you my opinion on the above, just ask.

A breakdown would be great. Some of these seem pretty straight forward, some I have no clue. Are any of the games that are on normal platforms different on VR? Fallout, for example.

I almost bought one of these last weekend, but passed on it.

It's pretty legit. Obviously, future versions of VR will be much better, but what we have right now is pretty awesome.

The spec differences between Go and Rift aren't too outrageously different, but you need a decent computer to use the Rift, I believe. If you have a Samsung phone, the Samsung Gear VR is basically a Go, but half the price bc you use your phone for the hardware unit.

A little birdie told me VR porn is pretty cool, but I wouldn't know or anything... But standing on the surface of Pluto is pretty cool, as is swimming with sharks or riding a wave in Hawaii.

For the price, I think the Go is a good buy. I'm just very behind on gaming tech, I haven't owned any gaming systems since my 360 went red ring 13 years ago, so I'm a bit lost on the new and fresh stuff.

It looks cool, but I need new tech like I need a hole in the head. I have an XB1 and 360 with hundreds of games between them both. A friend of mine built several retro multicades and I bought on of them off of him too. My laptop is okay, but far from a gaming rig. I can run a game cube emulator at best with it.

I bought the Green one. There is some wood trim around the Marquee now though so the light doesn't shine through. I run NES, Sega, SNES, Atari, Arcade, Gameboy, and Genesis emulators with it as it runs off a Raspberry Pie.

My phone is an older lower level Samsung that has very little internal space as well. I don't use my phone for a whole hell of a lot of things though and refuse to get a new one until this one breaks as it works fine. $200 seems pretty reasonable price for something like that though.

Damn, I have a Raspberry Pie and have never done anything with it. Never even thought about doing something like that. Seems like a cool idea.

One ride on a virtual rollercoaster made me glad I got this thing. When you fall in the game, you feel like you're actually falling. Walking in a different game left me needing to sit down bc I got dizzy. The only thing lacking for it is that it doesn't have many platform games that I'd like to play. I went right for that Batman game treelo listed up there, it isn't for my unit. I'd love a VR Mario game. I'm sure there will be shit like that in the future, but for now I'm happy with this thing.

It will probably drop in price some more eventually, I'd recommend it.

Streaming NFL football on no no sites and it appearing as though it's on a big screen is pretty awesome.

I have Samsung gear but havent used it in a long time. Got it when it first came out and it was still kinda gimmicky. Maybe i should give it another go.

I remember this "Face your Fears" app that was pretty crazy

Face Your Fears sounds like something I'm looking for. I presume that you're put in precarious situations? I'm looking for some thrills.

Yeah exactly. One of them your sitting in a childs bed and this little demon keeps popping up around you. I had a hard time making it all the way through it

I found the app, just did the Stranger Things scenario. Actually spooked by it. Good recommendation. Thank you

I am holding off till Oculus Quest.

Subnautica (Multiple)
Also available as a non VR game, this game is shit scary in VR, but is a very good game. Check out some gameplay. Basically, you have crash landed on an alien planet and you have to gather resources to survive underwater...i wont spoil it any more.

NoLimits2 (Steam)

The best rollercoaster game by a country mile, it has a demo which has 4 or 5 coasters, which will do you just if you dont want to end up splashing out for the full game to build your own coasters and have access to hundreds, if not thousands already built.

Batman VR (Steam)
More of a tech demo IMO, you act as Batman, solve a few crimes, investigate a few other things, i have it in my library, my kids have completed it, but i'm not into Batman that much, and it does only look like a demo of tech to me.

Raw Data (Steam, Oculus)
Wave shooter, has multiple scenarious where you get to fight different enemies, but also has several(i think its 4) chracters for you to control with different weapons(one has a light sabre, another has a bow and arrow, another guns). My son bought this, i have played it a couple of times and it is cool, but is very niche and doesnt seem to have a lot of replayability to me. Oh, i forgot, its also multiplayer.

Pavlov VR (Steam)
Ever heard of a game called Counter-Strike, meet its VR brother, complete with realistic reloads and weapon mechanism(you have to reload and also make sure there are bullets in the shaft of guns that need them)

Project Cars 2 (Steam)
The BEST VR racing game by some distance IMO, but bear in mind, this is a pretty hardcore sim, you will not be able to just jump in a car and even get near to the front of the grid without learning the tracks and the way the cars handle with different setups, i bought a wheel and pedals to play this, its awesome, but HARD.

Fallout 4 (Steam)
Well, it's Fallout 4 in VR, check the reviews for this, i havent played it yet and i know some people said they had motion sickness from this game IIRC.

Superhot VR (Steam, Oculus)
I own this, but have yet to play it, it gets really good reviews in non VR, and by all accounts the VR just takes it to a whole new level, like a FPS where you can slow down time and catch bullets/guns, yeah, kinda like the Matrix in VR, but on a timer.

Brass Tactics (Oculus)
Remember old school games like C&C and tabletop style war games where you had to gather resources to build your troops/weapons up, this is it, and its fantastic. There is a demo for this which is free, grab it before you pay for the full game, and make sure you are sitting down when you play, or you WILL fall over. I really like this one.

The Climb (Oculus)
Ever wanted to climb up rocks, nope, me neither, i'm petrified of heights. This lets you do it in VR, and is quite the workout and can get very challenging and competetive when played against friends. It sounds like a really bad idea for a game, but is tons of fun and pretty challenging to play. My son(16) kickd my ass at this badly.

Beat Saber (Steam, Oculus)
A time rythm style game that is a blast to play by all accounts, my 2 sons love it, i have yet to play it, looks a bit fast for my old ass reactions. Think of old school rythm games on steriods to dace/trance music with light sabres...yeah, it sounds cool.

Eleven Table Tennis (Oculus)
If you dont like competetive sports games, then dont get this, stupid hard once you get past the first 2 easy settings, and online competition will make you feel like you have been dumped in the Olympics, it plays extremely well and is very realistic, a proper sim of a sport. I played this a lot when i first got it, but don thave the time needed to play enough table tennis to care about getting good. Still a great game and the developer game me a 24 hour demo for free when i spoke to him on Discord.

Echo VR (Oculus, Steam)
Multiplayer floating football in space. You grab the ball, try and navigate your way to the opponents goal, and try and score, and its all online against realy people. Great fun and a good blast, i picked it up on a Steam sale and it doesnt get played much now, but still worth it if on sale.

Robo Recall (Oculus)

This is a very good shooter(many call the best) in VR, it does seem a bit tech demo to me, but i got it free with my Rift and it is polished as hell, great graphics, great weapons, great gameplay, but doesnt last long enough or have enough variety, but if you want to be a high score king, then there is tons of replayability here.

Shit, that took a little while. I do have a lot more games than that, like the Marvel VR that i just havent played yet, i try and pick most of them up when they are on sale.

Feel free to ask me any Q's, i got into VR last year and couldnt believe how good the tech was, people just shitting on it for the sake of it are probably the same people who said 3d printing would never take off.

Just so you get a notification for my above post :)

Just picked up one of these yesterday. It's pretty cool. I got drunk with some friends and family and we took turns screwing around with it. So far I did the Roller Coaster, Face Your Fears, fishing, and messed around with some of the 360 degree YouTube videos. I'm going to dive into it a little more today.

Check out Desirium. At this point, it's the coolest game I've found. Basically puts you in surreal scenarios, like a zombie apocalypse, or you're a bee and you fly around and annoy party goers. The MAX VR game in Desirium is one of the coolest games I've played, and if you were born in the 80's you should appreciate it very much.

The Dead Secret games are really fun too. They're basically traditional PS/Xbox mystery games, but they've been modified for VR. They're a lot of fun, and creepy.

Word... Thanks I'll check these out.

Games I enjoy on the Go:

Coaster Combat
Theta Legion
Cloudlands Golf
Rush
Anshar Online
Bait
Dead and Buried
Drop Dead

Thank you, sir. I've noticed some of these in the store. I've been thinking about getting Bait, bc I like fishing anyway. Not familiar at all with a few of them though. Dead and Buried makes me instantly think of a great horror movie from the 80's, but I've never heard of the game though.

Question for anyone who knows, can you side load games from other platforms onto an Oculus? I've seen YouTube vids where this seems to be the case, and I want to play GTA 5 on it.

I just checked out a 3D movie that was pretty cool. There is only a handful available to rent through the Oculus video App. There is a shit ton of non 3D movies, but I wanted to check a 3D one out. Regardless the setting is pretty cool. You are in a movie theater several rows back.

I rented a Tim Burton film called Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. I really enjoyed the movie and visuals were really cool. The whole experience made me feel like I was at a movie theater. You can also buy the movies, but the rentals range from $2.99-$6.99 from what I've noticed, and you get to keep them for 2 days.

I'm sure there are ways to pirate, but I didn't feel like trying to jump through the hoops. I know that Netflix is on here too, but they don't offer 3D movies.
