Obesity by State

map is probably BS taking into account that BMI measurement where anyone having a shred of muscle on is auto included in the overweight category. 40% of the people in a state aren't obese, come on.
It's not that bad. Yeah freaks like Brock Lesnar would be considered obese according to BMI, but in reality there's very few people like that.

BMI is a decent measurement for most of the country.

BMI measurements do fail when it comes to measuring people with muscle, but that is not the issue generally across America. It is not too many muscular people skewing the data.

As a general indicator the BMI does just fine.
Maybe. BMI plus body measurements is more accurate though.

What are they eating in Louisiana and Mississippi <6>

Yeah basic BMI simply used as a very broad measure to describe 'populations' is very effective.

It is quite accurate, simply by using basic BMI data to give a general gauge of 'obesity by State' or 'city'.

But BMi alone as a measure of any individual is very flawed. You need to use other measures, added to BMI, as you say.

Exactly.

Everyone points out pro wrestlers or NFL running backs as examples of BMI being flawed but those are extremely rare cases. If you're a 5'10" male and weigh 220 lbs, there's about a 99.5% chance you're a regular fat guy and not some exceptionally fit, exceptionally muscled gym bro.

They should probably slide the categories up a bit, though. Or at least make one for males and females. A 5'10" person would have to weigh under 174 pounds to be considered "normal."

Tampa never gets love. I much prefer Tampa over Miami but northern Florida <6>
Tampa seems cool, probably one of the cities I would be interested in moving to.

And yeah I've lived in both Miami and the panhandle and I was like "damn there aren't that many fat people here". Will say though it seemed when people are fat in Miami they are absolutely massive for some reason lol
