We actually don't know what the "Epstein Files" are, that's why most people want them released. We have crumbs of what it could be: flight logs, money trail, videos (?), etc. The full amount of evidence.
Trump asked for the pertinent Grand Jury testimony to be released.
1 - The grand jury testimony isnt even close to all evidence available for the prosecution. If any intelligence agency was involved in it, this info wouldn't ever make to the Grand Jury. Plus Epstein autopsy and anything related to the "investigation" in his death wont be there.
2 - The pertinent wording can be really ambiguous and requires trust from the public that the administration will properly determine what is pertinent. The same administration who said it would release the files, that there was no files and that files are a hoax. The administration who released a "raw" video missing time and was tampered with (per metadata).
He did this so part of his base that started to have doubts can go back blindly trust him and to avoid republicans in congress voting with democrats to release it.
But I think you already know this.
