Obama: “Don’t wait for a Savior...America doesn’t need a Messiah.”

It's hilarious that people are taking this as a diss on christianity. But it is Obama, so not surprising.

The good news is he doesn't need to rally the dem base. They will vote bigly thanks to Trump being such a shitshow.

That post was child's play. He did not include anything about cultural marxism, SJWs, or the new favorite: Ethnomasochism.

Lol.
The moron actually claimed to be left leaning in another thread

is this why so many people who feel this way elected a troll-n-chief? to be fair, the media does overreact to many things that he says, but he is also an intentional asshole nearly weekly. if unity is the goal, trump is a laughable choice.
No, a "but Trump!" response here doesn't work. Nowhere in my post did I say anything about Trump or that Trump was the man to do it. I said "America needs." Not "America has Trump." Learn to read.

Lol!

Wait, are you still confused about his statement? I already explained it to you.
You quoted a Springsteen lyric and a boring one at that. We're talking about Obama...

I am a huge Springsteen fan. I have noticed there are not any good covers of Thunder Road. The most decent one I have heard was the Badly Drawn Boy cover I posted which is mediocre at best. It is hard to capture the mix of tenderness, desperation and grit Springsteen brings to the song.

Obama: ‘Do Not Wait For a Savior, America Doesn’t Need a Messiah.’

As if the Christian community needed additional ammunition to support the notion that Obama (and The Left, for that matter) are anti-Christian.

Why choose the words “Savior” and “Messiah”?

Heck, even if he had simply utilized 1 of these words, even the most analytical Christian wouldn’t have batted an eye. But, in this case, even Satan himself is like...

Obligatory:

He’s trying to manage the impulses of his base who he feels/fears viewed him in messianic terms and are less likely to throw full support behind a successor. The real interesting question - is he correct in his assessment?

Don't pretend you don't understand how words like "savior" and "messiah" have strong meaning to the devout.

Of course they do, and they are also often used in a non-religious context or simply to draw on imagery. Let's not play dumb Seano, you're too smart for that. Obama was not making a religious statement in any way shape or form here. He was not talking about Jesus, he was talking about a political savior. The very idea that somebody would create this argument is just insane to me.

Springsteen is a devout Catholic. Thunder Road is not about Jesus. We are adults here, let's show a basic understanding of context.

There are some decent Springsteen covers, but in general his versions are hard to improve upon. The Band plays Atlantic City, and it's pretty good. Dropkick Murphys cover Badlands, and it is pretty cool. But I've never heard any great covers of Thunder Road.

I'll say this one more time, then I'll assume you are either a troll or basic context is over your head.

Obama was not talking about religion. He was talking about politics.

Here is the quote:

"You cannot sit back and wait for a savior," Obama continued. "You can’t opt out because you don’t feel sufficiently inspired by this or that particular candidate. We don’t need a messiah. All we need are decent, honest, hard-working people who are accountable and who have America’s best interests at heart."

He was saying that people need to get out and vote for honest, hardworking people who care about America, and not stay home and wait for some super slick inspirational figure to show up.

It's so simple. It's like he could have said, "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush," and you guys would be confused about why he is so interested in flying animals.

Then why does he insist on pandering to them? And why all the socialism talk? It's almost like Trump is playing 5D chess to get them to expose themselves for the anti-American traitors that they are.

Well I'd say he's being blasphemous then, equating opportunistic politicians with beloved religious figures. Sad.

Guess he should just go off and retire quietly never to be heard from again then since we need to do this on our own and shouldn't be waiting for his direction and cajoling. Bye Obama

America does need a savior. Our society is broken, we need someone to bring about some unity. No shock that Obama doesn't get that.

Obama could say the grass is green and you would argue against it. Your opinion is worthless

a convenient response.

You wish. Obama will be rustling jimmies for the next 30 years
