Elections NYC mayoral race

He gets out to Cat Turd and Libs of Tik Tok a lot.

A week or two ago I posted a poll that showed Mamdani with all-time high approval ratings.

The "OMG New York is falling apart" line from the righties here is obviously not true. If they were smart they'd go with the "NY libs are stupid, their city is falling apart but they don't care lol"

Meh... It's not falling apart yet. lol

But it's severely over budget and that's before Mamdani is able to enact any of his promises.

I mean... so many companies and people have already fled the state that New York lost 2 US Rep seats.

I'm sure Mamdani trying implement even more taxes will help that exodus.

The NYC's new mayors islamic supporter does not like dogs.

GOP Rep. Randy Fine Sets The Internet Ablaze with His Spicy Response to Muslim NYC Activist Calling for Banning Dogs as Household Pets and Describing Them as “Unclean”

Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) set the Internet on fire earlier this week with his comments toward a Muslim leftist who called for banning dogs as indoor pets.

Last week, a far-left Muslim activist in New York City named Nerdeen Kiswani angered Americans after targeting mankind’s most loyal friend in a shocking tweet.

“Finally, NYC is coming to Islam,” Kiswani wrote. “Dogs definitely have a place in society, just not as indoor pets.”

“Like we’ve said all along, they are unclean.”

For context, many Muslims consider dogs “impure” and Islamic legal tradition has, in various cases, pushed for barring human contact with the animals.

Kiswani later tried to claim that she was just joking, but the damage was already done.

Fine, who is Jewish, had a very spicy response to Kiswani’s nasty tweet on Sunday.

“If they force us to choose, the choice between dogs and Muslims is not a difficult one,” Fine wrote.

Fine’s response quickly set off an Internet firestorm, with several leftists, including AOC, calling him a religious bigot and demanding he be censured for his tweet......

What a strange rant for a situation in which no police were hurt, the mayor does not slam the police, and shows concern concern for mentally ill whose condition endangers themselves and the police.
A strange rant against a mayor who, LIKE YOU, has long called for mental health experts/ social workers to be linked with police on these calls.
And in light of all that --- to proclaim "fuck his empathy"? Thats weird.

Hopefully, if the family successfully sues the police department (I don't think this case warrants it tbh) the settlement starts coming out of the police pension funds until they get on board.
Ex-cop with white grievance politics hates foreigner, more news at 11

I don't live close to my cop family and friends, and when I do these issues don't come up in mixed company, and when they have it was like talking to a brick wall. And again, I wouldn't use that term out of respect, but if a topic got heated enough i probably would (not directed at them, but as a substitute for bad cops) which wouldn't be helping anybody. Same w/ politics. I had a conversation with by brother 2 weeks ago and I was very gentle with him (he's older than me, but I have to be deliberately delicate otherwise I'm not very nice to MAGA. Similarly, I spend a lot of time with my friend's family where I live and they are mostly MAGA. I just activate by deaf and mute settings when I'm around them - unless they bring me into it, which they seem to know not to do (which is nice).

I don't want to take away anybody's pension. I wish more people were eligible for those types of benefits.
But cities/ states pay huge settlements for crimes the police commit. And when its accountability time they threaten to withhold their services and they shift politics. So cops get everybody mad at a Democrat so they vote for a Republican and then people don't have healthcare anymore. So now there is no reform, the social safety net is compromised, and cops get their OT, their pension, and immunity from accountability, so zero to negligible improvement. Rinse and repeat. So yeah I imagine thats a scary scenario to have your pension jeopardized. Maybe that will be enough for them to police ea. other. And I'm not suggesting every mistake a cop makes jeopardize the fund, mistake happen and I think that profession deserves a lot of leeway, but there are examples of cops getting away with a lot before shit truly hits the fan. Its not much different than churches moving around PDF priests. There needs to be accountability for that shit, and somebody else paying the tab isn't accountability.

We're going to have to agree to disagree on Mamdani.
Despite my barbs I don't think nhbbear is a bad guy, certainly not by War Room standards

But the pearl clutching over the pig comments and the weird grievances against Mamdani are telling.

What do you think of Fine's comment here? Isn't that inappropriate for a sitting Congressman?

I don't think he's a bad guy either and by all accounts (his) he was a good cop, too.
He's not a crazy person either, he's just somebody I disagree with on most political issues.
He's like a pre-MAGA conservative with an understandable pro-police perspective.

Well... New York has a choice.

NYC Mayor Mamdani unveiled his preliminary budget at City Hall. The proposal outlines two options: either Hochul approves tax increases on the wealthy and corporations, or the city will raise property taxes on residents and tap into municipal reserves.

So, it's either more taxes or.... more taxes!

We told you so. Enjoy the Commies... this ought to be fun to watch.

Everyone with a brain knows that pretty much every single policy this clown proposed is untenable and unrealistic. It appeals to braindead leftists, Muslims, and people that are salty that the city is expensive and want short term fixes. So, some guy comes with a "the rich are evil!111!" platform and proposes quick fixes through a bunch of free shit and says some random anti Israel catch-phrases, and the dummies and Muslims vote him. As a resident of NYC, nothing has actually changed in people's everyday lives or experiences.

9.5% increase?
Is that correct?

There's still the honeymoon phase right now, but this guy is going to be a guaranteed disaster. Crime is going to go up, people are going to move out. But I am still willing to bet he will win re-election and going to be NYC mayor for an entire generation.
