Elections NYC mayoral race

So far, New York City has 13 people freeze to death in the streets thanks to Mamdani's new policy. Now he's under fire for not rounding up the Homeless, mentally ill, drugged out people from the cold like prior administrations.

"The warm embrace of collectivism" apparently doesn't deliver much heat.

I have read about this case and talked about it in one of my classes. Man charges cops with a knife and mamdani visits him and hospital. This echoes kamala and biden going to see rapist jacob blake after being shot by police in kenosha and mayor brandon johnson of Chicago visiting family and expressing mourning and outrage after cpd officer shot man that shot an officer in the wrist.

New York's falling apart!

Oh wait...

  • New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has 48-32% favorability rating, from 46-31% in December. The 48% favorable is the highest it’s ever been for Mamdani. He is viewed favorably by 64% of Democrats, unfavorably by 68% of Republicans, and favorably, 43-31%, by independents.

So when this type of ICE kills people no one cares huh ..
This early year spike has already surpassed typical annual averages and drawn criticism of city policies under Mayor Zohran Mamdan

Department of Community Safety is a must, Mamdani says

Mamdani said it was an example of why he wanted to set up a department separate from the NYPD to respond to EDPs, or emotionally disturbed people.

"No family should have to endure this kind of pain. Jabez needs mental health treatment, not criminal prosecution by a district attorney, and that is why I proposed creating a Department of Community Safety,"
The pain he's referring to is the pain of having a mentally ill family member killed by police because they're ill equipped to handle these situations.

At no time did Mamdani attack the police officer. He merely showed an extraordinary amount of empathy.

Well at least he’s caring about the most important things there. Not the snow, trash piling up or people freezing to death .

Oh' Lord, he's gonna try to virtue signal his problems away.

One month in...

He has no idea what he's doing. He's a woke Twitter profile. Good luck NYC.

Broken promise after broken promise...

‘Honor His Promise’: Advocates Criticize Mamdani’s CityFHEPS Reversal

The Mamdani administration is backtracking on a campaign commitment to expand eligibility for the city’s housing voucher program.

“We got the promise of how this is going to be a new era in City Hall and in New York City, but it feels like the mayor is replicating similar failures from previous administrations in not really being bold and centering solutions … that can actually help us put a dent on the mass homelessness crisis,” said Adolfo Abreu, housing campaigns director at VOCAL-NY, a group that organizes with people in shelters.

The Mamdani administration is feeling the pressure of balancing its first budget, which has a $7 billion deficit. CityFHEPS currently serves over 65,000 households—making it the second largest voucher program in the country. Its budget soared to $1.25 billion last fiscal year, a five-fold increase since 2021.

Comptroller Mark Levine estimated that implementing the Council’s expansion would increase the budget deficit by $6 to $20 billion in the next five years.

I did wonder who he was lying to - either the Lefties or the Muslims. Early signs are that it was the Lefties he duped!

Yeah, that would have gone really well for unarmed people showing up to this house=more dead defenseless social workers like what happened in Seattle.

He wasn’t killed-mamdani visited him in the hospital-but this is absolutely an attack/criticism of police response here. The family claims they called for an ambulance and no dispatch is going to send an ambulance when there has already been violence such as him throwing glasses in the house-and it should never happen.

And fuck his empathy and fuck him-he has absolutely zero for police and first responders or even the social workers he wants to put in harms way to avoid police going to these calls. The officers barely escaped without injury or worse.

I have long called for mental health experts teamed up with police and social workers to respond to these calls-they way, when they turn out violent, it’s not sitting ducks waiting to be slaughtered. Hell, some cities do that-some cities send social workers to deal with homeless and trespassing calls-a police officer-just yesterday-can’t remember where, was murdered after he was sent to a simple trespassing call and the man stabbed him in the throat. A regular citizen then shot the man but it was too late for the cop.

And in my opinion, the family will now be fishing for a lawsuit-of course. They stated to the media they didn’t want cops to respond-well too fucking bad-he was already violent. And mamdani visiting him like he’s a victim gives them a stronger case even though he charged at police and forced his way through a door to get at them. Fuck him and fuck mamdani with a pineapple.

What a strange rant for a situation in which no police were hurt, the mayor does not slam the police, and shows concern concern for mentally ill whose condition endangers themselves and the police.
A strange rant against a mayor who, LIKE YOU, has long called for mental health experts/ social workers to be linked with police on these calls.
And in light of all that --- to proclaim "fuck his empathy"? Thats weird.

Hopefully, if the family successfully sues the police department (I don't think this case warrants it tbh) the settlement starts coming out of the police pension funds until they get on board.

No police were harmed because they correctly used deadly force against this threat. When he went to visit this violent man in the hospital and took no action whatsoever to back his officers and with his past statements where he called the Nypd racist and a threat to the public

One bullet point in Mamdani’s proposal reads: “end co-response teams to hand calls off to crisis and outreach teams that are better positioned to address people’s needs.”

In short, Mamdani’s mental health response team vision is to shift the city’s crisis response from a police-led model to a public health model, with social workers, EMTs, and peer counselors at the front lines, while keeping police as a last resort in high-risk situations.

And you’re hoping the family sues, gets money, and it comes out of the pension fund? Fuck off with that shit. They don’t deserve a fucking dime and you want to punish police retirees who had nothing to do with a justified shooting? That’s what’s wrong with lawsuits against police-the cities either settle or the plaintiffs are awarded crazy amounts for justified shootings-see alton sterling, mike brown, rashard brooks, jayland walker, kizee in La, and way way too many others. That’s why I’m not comfortable completely eliminating qualified immunity-because I don’t trust the fucked up leg system that instead of a city paying out millions to someone who won the shitbag lottery where a justified shootings ends up costing tax payers millions and rewards shitty behavior-now an individual officer is on the hook -look up jayland walker for a recent one that was settled for over 4 million. Fucking ridiculous
