The thing is, it shouldn't be a matter of "admitting you were wrong". And I think a lot of the conservative posters flaunting that they were right, and the Biden supporters were wrong are doing everyone a disservice. It isn't like everyone who endorsed Biden is a phile or supports corrupt politicians. Its simply that they agreed with Biden's policies, and no one was aware of this stuff behind the scenes. Now that we are aware of it, people who flip against Biden should applauded for doing the right thing; we shouldn't celebrate and laud it over them as some sort of victory over them.

We've never had that happen in the US at this level of office, but we have at lower offices. Usually, someone else from the party is inserted as a substitute. I think wives or primary opponents are common. This would almost certainly be the VP candidate.

The closest we've had at the presidential level is Grants opponent dying before inauguration. But Grant clearly won, so it was moot.
