After Columbine gun free zones were created, they are NOT working
Every massacre at a school since Columbine has been done by people using weapons they were not allowed to possess, all apparently had serious mental issues
all were 18 to 25 years old. Semi auto weapons with 30 rd magazines have been around since ww2 and are not the weapons used in a majority of murders

Don't get me wrong, I am an ardent supporter of civilian firearms ownership, but I have to play Devil's Advocate before I can start reposting that. Isn't the bolded portion untrue; weren't many of the firearms used in those massacres legally acquired by their respective shooters?

Either way, it changes nothing about my views on private firearms ownership; I still support it and oppose most of the new, knee-jerk proposals for regulation. However, I won't feel comfortable in using that argument if someone can dismiss it by saying, "actually, that guy purchased his guns legally" to which I'll reply, "would the victims be any less dead if the firearm was acquired illegally?"
