Munoz never did a thing to deserve being top 5, but Boetsch was on a nice streak and finished Okami, which is something that only Anderson Silva has been able to do since 2003, and his only other losses were to Franklin, Shields, and Sonnen. Jacare can certainly compete, but to downplay Munoz and Boetsch seems a little silly.

Yes Boetsch pulled off a great comeback but he's looked very average besides that. Jacare is a better striker, just as good a wrestler and a far better grappler.

Either way I wasn't downplaying their success just stating that lesser fighters, with lesser talent established themselves as top mw's so acting like Jacare can't is ridiculous.

Jacare has really good take downs for a bjj specialist turned mma fighter. His hands are steadily getting better and doesn't have any really glaring weaknesses. I'm telling you his take downs are better than other MW bjj guys like Maia (*former MW), Leites, Lutter, or Palharese etc. He is explosive and doesn't have to get the clinch and use trips/throws/jump guard etc. to get it on the mat...he can get the single or double against most MWs.

Jacare/Munoz. Munoz is a serviceable striker. Good takedowns. Solid submission defense. Good chin. All-around decent fighter. I think it would be a good test for Jacare. Submissions aren't automatic when a guy hits as hard as Munoz does on the ground, and his wrestling is very good.
