The ones that I followed were mamdani, VA gov spamberger, VA ag race, and especially, Philly da larry krasner.
The reasons why in order-obviously, mamdani is a demcratic socialist communist that I think is a litmus test to see how far left nyc is willing to go, which is really far. Besides being extremely anti cop and has talked in the past of “reimagining public safety” and telling the Nypd, which I don’t think is realistic at all-then he backtracked to try to appease citizens that their Nypd won’t be treated poorly and he is sorry, but he didn’t care about the Nypd reaction because he knows that relationship is irreparably damaged, he is against private property and trying to turn nyc communist with the free busing and other policies. And no, I am not reviving the “red scare” period. Some other notable things I would mention about this race and his politics-the other two candidates really sucked badly. sleewa simply wasn’t a viable alternative and cuomo is corrupt as fuck and no one seriously would choose him given a decent option. And, I am not against his campaign against billionaires at all, but everything else is bad.
The VA gov election was interesting because spamberger refused to answer so many questions and badly stumbled through them, so I wanted to keep tabs on this one to see how far voters would go to ignore all of that just to avoid a republican.
The VA ag-same thing. Dude basically made death threats or said he would kill his opponent given the opportunity over killing hitler.
And it’s no secret how much a I hate krasner and his policies and how dangerous I think they are. How he uses race to determine what crimes he will prosecute-most notably, how he won’t prosecute felons with firearms because most of the offenders are black and he says he wants to avoid filling prisons with minorities for that particular crime despite studies showing that felons with firearms and juveniles in gangs are what is driving our violent crimes rates. He also blames the nra and other states’ gun laws for his city’s violence rather than felons with firearms, which is so completely absurd I have trouble typing it. And then there is his absolute failure in getting the drug problems under control. I think it takes both a criminal justice apptand a medical approach, but he completely ignores the crime side of the equation.
