In VA at least, both Gov and Lt Gov had been held by republicans. So yes, last night isn’t necessarily an indicator of how midterms will go, but VA at least has had republican leadership, had the option to continue with that, and chose against it. That is still noteworthy.

The town supervisor seat where my parents live was flipped from rep to dem. It was rep for the last 4 terms. Same thing in another town nearby. You won’t hear about those elections but it may be a sign of things to come.
