Aldo looked incredible against Jeremy Stephens and Moicano. Finished them both early. And those 2 are probably better than anyone he fought at WEC.

What’s Aldo’s best win? Frankie? Mendes, KZ, Cub or Faber? None of those guys are at the level of Conor, Max or Volk

Khabib on the resume matters more than percentage alone; but even that could be deceptive because Khabib's takedowns are usually against the cage. The difference in percentage is not statistically significant (a difference that small can be like 1 or even a half takedown difference). I still think he is in the convo in this category and an undeniable TDD master who encountered Mike Brown, Chad Mendes x2, Frankie Edgar x2, two studs known for their chain takedowns.

Let's keep in mind Tibau was a roided monster back then as well.

Aldo has a great skillset and some great wins but man the loss to McGregor was so embarrassing, I don't know what to think of him.

Aldo would always lose to max, because he always struggled with cardio. He can’t match Max’s pace for 5 rounds. Conor is too slick, too big and powerful for him. It was inevitable he would get fucked by Conor.

Look what he did to Mike Brown or Nogueira on the ground. Or what he did to Uriah. Basically the best grappling competition you could offer him in MMA back then. He fucking SMOOSHED them on the ground. Not the slightest hint of competitiveness levels of smooshing. His top control and GNP were insane. His takedowns too. That's Prime Aldo. Outside of one timid back take against Chito and a few meaningless takedowns againt KZ, we haven't seen SHIT from Aldo offensively grappling wise in the UFC.

There's no smoke without fire. If you hear about WEC Aldo everywhere you go in MMA communities, there's a reason for it. WEC Aldo is the GOAT. BJJ, wrestling, striking. 10 out of 10 everywhere, all while being as fast as a cat and more agressive than a pitbull. UFC Aldo is an old and patient Chinese master compared to this guy. He's more experienced, that's it. You only see sparkles of WEC Aldo there and there. He used to fight like that for the ENTIRETY of his fights. Munoz wouldn't have been able to put any weight on his leg after 2 minutes against WEC Aldo. Most probably wouldn't have seen the end of the 1st round.

I'll never forget that fight against Mike Brown. At the time, Brown was a killer. Heavy hands, strong wrestling and excellent top control game. And Aldo just dominated him on the mat.

The closing sequence of that fight: Aldo had flattened Brown belly down with both hooks in, and Aldo was arched up so he could rain down blows on Brown's head with both fists. Brown was completely helpless and outclassed.

Frankie yes, Stephens and Moicano, no. He's still an elite fighter when he fought Stephens and Moicano but he wasn't the same explosive world beater he was when he was younger. Conor fight was the tale end of his prime, imo.
