Not only is Aldo in the GOAT conversation... But

4th best FW of all time

Just behind Conor, Max and Volk

Lost to all of them in his prime
yeah rubbish , while Conors punch was no fluke, he wouldnt be doing that to Aldo again. Theres a reason why Conor wouldnt grant the rematch cos he knew hed never do that again...oh and because Conor could no longer make FW because of the IV bans.
Oh and before you say 'Conor offered the rematch and Aldo refused it' 2 weeks notice, and LW and not for the belt isnt offering a rematch .

Aldo is the king of body shots for sure Bas is up there too.
Great TDD but not the king
Was the king of leg kicks 10 years ago lol not anymore

Man, you're a fool if you think he was in his prime in these fights. Go watch his WEC career right now, I can tell you haven't. Go watch his Pancrase fight against Maruyama. That's prime Aldo. Compare it now to his UFC version. I don't even care about the level of opposition (which was not too shabby already, btw). Just look at the form and the speed of strikes, look at the output, look at the level of aggression. He never quite performed like this in the UFC.

He used to be such a fucking beast man, not just with stand up or with TDD either, like he still is nowadays. His offensive grappling was almost akin to Khabib's ffs. Look what he did to Mike Brown or Nogueira on the ground. Or what he did to Uriah. Basically the best grappling competition you could offer him in MMA back then. He fucking SMOOSHED them on the ground. Not the slightest hint of competitiveness levels of smooshing. His top control and GNP were insane. His takedowns too. That's Prime Aldo. Outside of one timid back take against Chito and a few meaningless takedowns againt KZ, we haven't seen SHIT from Aldo offensively grappling wise in the UFC.

There's no smoke without fire. If you hear about WEC Aldo everywhere you go in MMA communities, there's a reason for it. WEC Aldo is the GOAT. BJJ, wrestling, striking. 10 out of 10 everywhere, all while being as fast as a cat and more agressive than a pitbull. UFC Aldo is an old and patient Chinese master compared to this guy. He's more experienced, that's it. You only see sparkles of WEC Aldo there and there. He used to fight like that for the ENTIRETY of his fights. Munoz wouldn't have been able to put any weight on his leg after 2 minutes against WEC Aldo. Most probably wouldn't have seen the end of the 1st round.

This is a great fucking post. Last time I saw Aldo just work someone in grappling was against Lamas. Just mauled that guy.

Mendes hit that exact same takedown like 5 seconds after that and Aldo still managed to get back to his feet in like 0.2 nanoseconds.

Aldo grabbed the fence once in his career and somehow it's a big narrative about him lol. It was completely irrelevant regarding the outcome of the fight

i didn't say mendes would have won if it wasn't for the fence grab

aldo grabbed the fence. that's a fact. that's all bro.

thirteen seconds.

He deserves the Dillashaw fight tbh

Id love to see Aldo vs Cruz as well, but I think Dom and Frankie should fight next

In my honest opinion he can reasonably be placed no lower than 5th or 6th

Personally i think it's too hard to rank them by number so i just do it by tier

Tier 0

Fedor
GSP
Jones**

Tier 1
Anderson**
Johnson
Aldo
Cruz

Tier 2

DC
Cejudo
Hugues

he used to have GOAT leg kicks when he could deliver them.
Monster. Even though he is clearly out of his prime. One of the GOATs for sure

His defensive boxing looked stellar :)

Maybe Aldo can make a run for the title!!! :D
Probably wishful thinking but Part of me feels like he’s got one last run in him. If sterling doesn’t lose the title in the meantime, I think Aldo can take him.

Love Aldo, and yes, TS, watching him check those kicks was amazing

You’re only as good as your opponent allows you to be.

Paolo Costa looked like a freakin’ tank till he met Izzy. Same thing applies to Rob.

Forrest Griffin looked like he never trained a day in his life when he fought Anderson.

Do you honestly think Khamzat will look the same when he faces someone like Usman? And if he doesn’t, would it mean he’s fallen out of prime? Lol

Aldo looked incredible against Jeremy Stephens and Moicano. Finished them both early. And those 2 are probably better than anyone he fought at WEC.

What’s Aldo’s best win? Frankie? Mendes, KZ, Cub or Faber? None of those guys are at the level of Conor, Max or Volk

Unfortunately Conor cracked his chin and took his soul. Prime Aldo would have beat max and Volk

one of the Goats, FW GOAT
His longevity, defense and offense in striking
Blending Muay Thai and Boxing at such a high level

What TF has Cruz done to be as high as Anderson, DJ and Aldo????

Khabib faced one good MMA wrestler (Tibau) in his whole career and easily got outwrestled
...but he fought all American Justin Gaethje who was supposed to be the biggest threat via wrestling & strangled him.

Nope.

Tibau; TDD %92
Aldo; TDD %91

+ Tibau fought Khabib, and still has higher TDD percentage than Aldo. Aldo never fought a wrestler on Khabib's level.

Still Khabib won against GOAT TDD fighter early on his career (just second UFC fight, and fighting against Prime Tibau was a great win).
Tibau got robbed. Worst robbery of all time

He couldn't make 155 and Justin is nowhere near a wreslter. MJ is also a NCAA wrestler but nobody calls him a wreter.
