This is ahead of ending war announcement with SK and meeting with Trump in June.

Will be interesting to see what they got in return. KJI traded this for food aid in the past.

NK has wanted guaranteed security and believed the nuke was the only way to get it. They're not giving up their nukes or ICBM's they're not going to test them further.

Probably never had anything in the first place. Nothing effective, atleast.

This is a great way to save face, and possibly extend Kim's reign by a couple of decades. Hell of a play, really. He bluffed all the way with a pair of twos, and made the whole world acknowledge him.

They definitely have nukes. Whether or not they had an ICBM capable of delivering them is another story.

They might have some old Russian stock. Whether they can actually develop anything, is another story.

All the Kim's ever wanted was their guaranteed security. If he got that in the deal it's a win. If SK is giving up things in their peace deal to end the war they were unwilling to give up in the past because they don't trust Trump not to pre-emptively strike at NK than it's a win for Kim. If there is no war on the KP does that mean American Military leaves, or at least greatly draws down it's presence?

I said here many times - best play to all this was that Kim and NK won. Only stick against them was sanctions and he's proven that he can keep his people under his heel no matter what. And he got nukes while US was never able to do anything because he'd have flattened Seoul and killed hundreds of thousands if not millions in the days and weeks of the bombardment of the mega city.

He'd never fire first because he knew it would be his end. He saw Iraq and Libya versus Pakistan.

lol

They've said the same thing to at least two administrations. The only difference is that this one will believe them and brag about getting them to say it.

Isn’t what North Korea always does? Start some shit, world gives them stuff and they stop till they need more shit.

Damn right they will.

This is the 3rd time since the Clinton administration they've gone this route. Then, they keep developing their technology and obviously want to test it.

Maybe slightly different this time because they only thing they really could test that would be new is their rv and chaff capabilities

in other words, theyve run out of money, the sanctions are crippling, and they need aid

Despite the claims by folks here, I just went through the complete history of NK US diplomatic efforts.

They have claimed this in the past, however most of their recent (ie last 15 years) statements were to reaffirm their original commitment.

Also, there’s not been concessions like the ones that have come out recently.

This isn’t to say it’s definitely happening. But it does look different than past instances.

The genie is out of the bottle , no way are they giving up their nukes

There’s certainly wisdom here, no doubt about that.

I wonder if there’s an acceptable middle ground for all sides.
