Three individuals and two LGBT advocacy groups early Monday morning filed a lawsuit in federal court challenging the recently passed North Carolina law that nullified local LGBT rights ordinances and restricted transgender people’s access to restrooms.

“By singling out LGBT people for disfavored treatment and explicitly writing discrimination against transgender people into state law, H.B. 2 violates the most basic guarantees of equal treatment and the U.S. Constitution,” the lawsuit argues.

The complaint argues the law violates people’s equal protection, privacy, and liberty rights under the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and their civil rights under Title IX of the Education Act of 1972.

The lawsuit is asking for a declaratory judgment that the law violates the Constitution and Title IX and an injunction against enforcement of the law.

And why are they labeling this a lgbt issue ? Why are we lumping gays, bis into this issue ?

We're at the point where trans people can convincingly pass as an opposite sex. You may have a person with a full beard go into a woman's bathroom and say that they were born a woman. How will you verify?
The toothpaste is out of the tube. We don't live in a XX and XY world anymore. We should try to come up with solutions that can actually work rather than reminiscing about simpler times.

but since you apparently don't care whether someone is XX or XY. how would you take it if you met a girl you liked and started making out. then, when it's time for the pants to come off you find out he has a dick? woulde you feel disgusted? would you feel tricked?

and what is your solution from preventing a creepy straight XY guy from entering the women's bathroom claiming he's a woman? and what if a XY trans guy is a registered sex offender against women, should the trans guy still be allowed in the women's bathroom?

It is not gender, but sex that bathrooms are. It is male and female bathrooms.
