Economy North American Consumers Increasingly Frustrated at Tipping Culture

I usually tip at 20% but if service is shittt, I tip less but still tip u less they truly suc. What pisses me off is when you buy something that they don’t have to make and it asks if you want to tip them. For example, I buy these ice cream cookie sandwiches at a local bbq place and all they do is ring it up. It pisses me off that I feel like an ass because I refuse to tip in that instance. If I buy food they fixed, I will tip

There is a chain of car washes in my area that has installed automated kiosks to choose your type of car wash and for payment. At the end, after you, the consumer, have chosen the type of car wash, the add ons, etc, the automated kiosk asks how much you want to tip. Fucking clown world.

The tipping the automated machine? Yeah, fuck that shit

Yeah, the only thing I can figure is that they have helpers with a tablet who used to stand at the entrance and do everything. The car wash installed the kiosks but kept the helpers who now run up to the kiosk when you pull up and try to help when its not needed. I guess they put the tip option in the kiosks in an attempt at keeping the helpers feel useful and remain if an old lady can't figure the kiosk out.

I only tip delivery drivers and when I sit down to eat. If I pick up food I put down $1 cause I feel bad and $1 really doesn't mean shit to me. I don't even tip people who deliver stuff. I had some big furniture item delivered I don't remember what. The guy turned around and looked down at my hands I'm guessing to see if I was tipping. No, I paid an extra $150 for this get the company who hired you to pay you more.

On top of that I asked them to set it down literally right in the entry way so they barely had to even walk in my house to deliver it. I took it upstairs from there which I could have asked them to do it because I made sure that was an option when I paid for delivery.

I used to tip generously but now everyone asking for tips everywhere I go wants makes me not want to tip anyone.

I visited a restaurant in the SW of Western Australia a few years ago ( yes yes I know its not the US). Let me say that we do not tip here.
When I went to pay the bill by card the cashier handed me the machine to punch in my pin ( it was over $100 so I couldnt paywave)
I punched in my pin and it didnt work, then read carefuly the display and it was asking for a tip and I had punched in my pin,.. I almost gave them a $1200 tip.
Deleted all that and gave them nothing..

My tip... Be good to your mother

Tipping is one of the worst aspects of American culture. It’s just pushing the employers costs onto the consumers. Pay people a decent wage and it will make everyone’s lives better.

Sadly the automatic tipping is hitting Europe too.
I am not a fan.
