Non wrestlers who got good enough to outwrestle wrestlers list

conor had a lot of potential in grappling

if only he really took his career serious after all that floyd money
I don't think we got to see his full potential really. He retired from MMA in 2016 imo, only thing that brang him back was Khabib going after Artem and now Conor and Artem aren't even friends... Conor made a lot of money but aside from that his life seems to be in shambles, getting into all sorts of trouble, belongs in Prison if he really is a rapist and it seems likely...

If he kept up the same level of motivation he had when first making his title run at 145 it would have been interesting to see how his career shaped up. I feel like for most fighters it would be smart to get out once you make the kind of money Conor did but perhaps training and fighting were the only things keeping him out of trouble.

On one hand he made a shit ton of money, in the other he lost whatever self discipline and control he once had and is now facing massive backlash that could lead to him going bankrupt.

sadly i believe that money didn't change him, it just aloud him to be who he really was
like he held his worse tendencies just enough to succeed

it's really sad cause he could have been so much more, he had the talent to be a all time great

Yeah I mean, I wish he could have won against the dark side. Felt like he was trying at least unless it was all a sham lol. Seems like he started doing a lot of the things he claimed to be against. Think he started hanging around some shitty people, fact is he became way too big of a star way too fast. I remember he said he kept a small circle of only a few close people but by the time the bus attack happened he had a lot of people around him. Not to mention he was getting free shit tossed at him left and right by big companies, free cars, free Rolex's etc..

Ultimately it's his own fault for how he ended up, wish we got to see him train and compete seriously in his prime but sadly he has fought 4x in the last 8 years and I don't think he was at his best in any of those fights.

If he didn't get such a ridiculous amount of money we probably would have gotten to see him fight more and stay serious for a longer amount of time.

He was entering what is typically the best years of a fighter's career but got $100m from the Mayweather fight.

A lot of champs would have never even been champs if they retired at the same age that Conor was when he fought Floyd. Every champ rn aside from Topuria is 30+. Dricus is the 2nd youngest at 30 and the rest are 33+.

I dont think it would have made a difference. It's not like he wasn't an ass before. He just wasn't super famous.

He was training to attempt to make the team. That isn't the same thing as being considered for the team.

Oh didn’t know. Could have sworn he was but got injured. Maybe I’m thinking of someone else.

DDP tore through Rob's anti-wrestling

This twitter post shows the lack of knowledge of DDP’s past.

Prior to UFC, he primarily wrestled and chocked people out. His Grappling, wrestling and Submission game is super underrated

Wrestlers = people who wrestled before MMA career.

Non-wrestlers = people who only started wrestling for MMA.

Charles Oliveira is a BJJ/striking guy but he went on to outwrestle Michael Chandler.

Demian Maia pulled guard a lot in sport jiu-jitsu but went on to trash around Chael Sonnen and D1 wrestlers.

Of course we all know about GSP becoming one of the wrestling GOATs but not actually wrestling before MMA.

It's an interesting list isn't it? It's actually rare to see people outwrestle fighters who wrestled from childhood but in the context of MMA I guess it happens sometimes.

And by the way, when I talk about outwrestling I mean actually taking opponent down more than the other way around, not sprawl n ' brawls.
Gsp..
